Some shots with a pre-production Canon 8-15mm f4L. This lens is super sharp, and will close focus to the point where the subject is touching the front lens element! Shot on my 5DmkII - the circular images are at 8mm, and the full frame shots are with the lens at 15mm.

No idea what the MSRP is yet, unfortunately. Canon lent it to us for a few weeks for evaluation.

too specialty for me.
I was looking at the Sigma 8-16mm. I'm just waiting for the reviews to come in to compare the two.
Can you put a filter in the front? on a crop frame that is - not a FF.

I don't really like how it makes the image circle like that.. is there no way around it?

@ Broadway Camera's website, it says:
This product was added to our catalog on Friday 10 September, 2010.
I'm not so sure I'm feeling the 8mm with such an image circle.
Definitely a very special purpose lens.

at 8mm on a FF, there's no way around it. I think the widest lens on a FF you can get without the circle is the Sigma 12-24mm.
on a crop frame it'll be perfect though!!

amazing looking lens! But I can really justify dropping that much on a fisheye.. it has such limited use.

i got the sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 a couple weeks ago. its not as "fisheye" as the canon one at 8mm.. sorta disappointing but its okay :okay:
to get in focus with the subject u need to be about 2 inches or more away. still a cool lens to use for pictures of clouds, architecture etc.
these pics are shot with my canon 60d
8mm without lens hood:
