Recovery Disc issue? (vaio)

So i bought a new hard drive for my laptop (500gb raptor)

steps taken

1) went into BIOS and reset to defaults, saved, exited

2) used my recovery disc for a Complete System Recovery, it loaded, partitioned my drive, attempts to install

3) Error: 332 (asked to reboot and try again)
Error 332 is listed on Sonys support page simply as "HDD"

4) ran Vaio Hardware Diagnostics on the Harddrive it tested the HD for about 30mins didn't find any issues

5) went through the process again I get Error: 333 (not listed on sonys site)

6) Put my old HD back in and Remade a couple Recovery Discs (ticked "verify discs" this time)

7) tried Recovery with the new discs on the new HD again & Error: 332 ever since (still doesn't install)

8) tried my Win7 Pro *Upgrade* disc (decided to just skip trying to recover) Win7 pro Upgrade disc works, installs Win7 but my CD-Key doesn't work

9) tried to activate windows with the Key again and Im told basically "this is a Windows Upgrade Disc and can't be used with a Clean Install" (its worked before but not anymore ???)

did a Live Chat with a sony help rep and they just gave me those same steps and finally said "mail it in to us" -__-

Anyone had similar issues? can offer any advice? thanks

Solved, I think... just in case anyone ever has the same issue

someone recommended just cloning the Recovery Partition on my original HD to the new one
with Hiren's BootCD
