Bird droppings may contain sand.

if you run your fingernail over the scratch, does the scratch catch your fingernail?

if not you can probably polish it out. if you can, it's deeper than that and probably needs to be repaint.

no, my finger nail doesn't get caught. it looks like it's just clearcoat damage. it's a white line.

the bird shit part is when i tried to remove the bird shit and it left these little tiny scratches.

better just do it yourself...learn it from youtube or the forums here....taking to the shop will be very pricy!!!!! clearcoat scratches can range depending on the size.....

bird shit is stupid, especially with hot weather.

I had a palm sized drop last year, and cleaned it out within a few hours. BUT it still left a splatter mark on the car. I can't seem to get rid of it. Only visible from a certain angle..

few hours is enough for it to dry and stain your clearcoat.

acid from the shit eats into your paint, depending how long its been there will determine the damage.

Bird shit needs to be cleaned while it's still wet. Once it dries it's too late.

Out of curiosity what did you use to remove it?

Water from a hose. It was a pretty powerful hose and I left it on the bird shit for about 2 minutes before it came off. Left scratches.

You guys can just use some scratch remover/rubbing compound from an auto sho (canadian tire), meguiars or mother's brand... to remove simple clear coat defects like bird shit stains... megauirs scratch x or ultimate compound is safe to use by hand and works very well.... OR you can pay a professional detailer to detail your car....

Meguiar¿s Ultimate Car Rubbing Compound | Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/CarWashingCleaning/CarPaintCare/PRD~0392809P/Meguiar%27s%AE+Ultimate+Compound.jsp?locale=en)

the bad reviews for the UC are idiots... if used properly, this is one of the best over the counter car products available, imo. if it didn't work for swirls etc, there is something you are doing wrong, ie. the applicator pad you are using, and or the unusual expectations you have.

Meguiar's® Scratch X | Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/CarWashingCleaning/CarPaintCare/PRD~0391031P/Meguiar%27s%AE+Scratch+X.jsp?locale=en)
