I did the search and found nothing. I see many threads about best bodyshop to fix their banged up rides; but what if there's nothing banged up, but there's an ill fitting bodykit that needs work to be fitted properly?

http://hphotos-ash4.fbcdn.net/265328_10150237796274190_799549189_7080588_1680760 _o.jpg

For example this. The line where it meets the door is too far inwards near the top and sticking too far out in the bottom.

and this has bad alignment with the hood while everything else lines up good.

Which bodyshop deals with this kind of stuff all the time and charge more reasonably than what I've been quoted thus far?

Save On Body wants $800 for prepping and spraying 2 fenders + skirts + fixing of the fenders:fulloffuck:, so let's use the RS know-how to find me something that undercuts this price.

Try R-1 Collision in Richmond near Save-On. Unless you have a bodyman friend, that is about the right price. You get what you pay for.

$800 is cheap for that.

If you took it to a franchise / chain type shop you'd probably be looking $1200-$1400 min.

Good body kits aren't cheap... and cheap body-kits aren't good!

You get what you pay for.

Its RS
thats what the commotion is about. Bring it by and possibly I can give you some pointers I've done dozens of ebay body kits over the years.

If the OP was just asking for a cheap shop that would slap on his ebay body kit, i don't think anyone would really say anything

Good, Fast, Cheap.. pick 2.. If you are doing it as a hobby and have plenty of time (ie it is not your DD), why not doing the obvious fittings youself, note down where you think places that need the extra finesse, then take it to the shop to the final finesse? Cheap shops don't have the time to make it absolutely ball bearing rolling perfect (especially if you want them to do the basic obvious flaws to start). Most of the variances on aftermarket / OEM (note not OE) panels you just need to spend the time. Looks like you are doing it on a AE86.. remember tolerance of parts at that time aren't very high either.

I suggest get a grinder, body hammer and air riverter, shims from PA and small tub of bondo from CT and a few scrappers, masking tape etc.. go at it yourself, if you want to be cheap. And Phil@Rise offered some pointers, so take up the offer.

I don't need fast but I don't have skills whatsoever. I tried bodywork before and all I can do is make bad worse. So it's still about finding someone to do it.

And I know $800 is cheap, but I wanna know if anyone knows of places who deal with this stuff more often than others, hence know how to chop-chop do it the easy way and cheap way. I don't know if such a way even exists but I wanted to ask first before dropping the coins for it off the first quote I got.

any shop in surrey^:haha:

that advice might actually hold some truth to it, lol. I'm sure there are lots of Surrey cars with awful, poorly fitted kits on them. so Surrey shops may have a fair bit of experience dealing with that. :p
