Dealership damaged my rims
TOPEC

So long story short, the dealer scratched/damaged not 1, but all FOUR of my rims either with a nick, paint chip, or scratches on the rims while replacing my tires under warranty.
The car is brand new, i only had the car for 1 month and 10 days exactly, the rims r optional 19" from the factory at extra cost.
I will be heading to the dealership later on today to talk to the service manager about this, they do not know about the damages yet as i got my car back on the weekend. I inspected the car on the spot but since i told them specifically NOT to wash my car, the wheels were covered in the wheel lube thus hid the damages on the rims.
I will see what they will do about this, but any ideas on what i should do or be asking for? I highly doubt they will give me 4 new rims, and i have a feeling if they are going to do anything about it, they will just send it out to get it refinished which i dont want to since it'll never look the same.
Pictures and the whole story will be posted later when i get home.

If you have pictures of the car before you went in for service that could help. Other then that it's going to be your word against theirs. Play a polite ethical game, try not to yell or raise your voice and hopefully if they are an honorable dealership they will take care of all your damages and fix your rims to new or replace them.

I doubt you can tell the difference after they refinish them.

Got my rims refinished. All four lips on black/red Volk's Time Attacks. Cost over $700.00 and that was lips ONLY. Excellent job though can't tell there were any marks at all.

as u can see, all the damages r limited to the face of the rim, so it has to be done during mounting and dismounting of the tires, the two chip marks on the inner barrel must've been done when they were prying out the old weights because there was tape residue right beside it
and most of the damages r pretty deep as i can catch it with my finger nail
for some odd reason all the rims HAD silver over spray on them when i picked up the car, when i pointed it out to the sales person he said it must be the lighting so i gave him the benefit of doubt since it was night time when i picked up the car

i am heading off to the dealership now to see what they say
and the dealership will remain nameless until the issue is resolved.
the long story of how it all happened will be posted when i get home afterwards with an update.

Not so much a dealership. I was purchasing these wheels from and S2Ki member in Ontario. He took them into a shop to have the tires removed. They put a couple of nicks in two of the four wheels. I'm anal and wanted all 4 redone..., the shop in Ontario paid for half the cost, and the sellor and I split the other half so I got all four done for $175.00 my cost but it was $700.00 in total from what I understand.

Wow, I'd be pretty pissed if this happened to me too. Good luck man, hopefully they are fair and understand that "they" did it and not "you"

if its a dealership, you're pretty much limited to a few....parkshore, BJ or autowest...
but, honestly, your nicks are nothing....a polishing compound and probably 20mins of work will get rid of them. Save you a headache and a potential arguement.
I will bet the farm that the dealership will not refinish ur rims for the damages in the pics you posted.

If it's an actual BMW dealership, they most likely they took the rims off a new similar model and swapped them.
^^lol that means next person will be screwed

heres the long story of how it all happened, i spoilered all the non important parts that led to this incident, u can read the whole story from when i picked up the car, but its pretty long
on may 31, i picked up my car at the dealership at night around 8pm, it was a brand new showroom car, when i was about the drive off, i noticed the silver on the rim and told my sales person about it, he shrugged it off as it was the florescent lighting bouncing off the rim, so i didnt think much of it and drove home
the very next day when i was inside the car playing around with it i noticed a small tear/rip in the leather on the side bolstering on both front seats, it was about the size of a grain of rice and didnt really think much about it since it was so small
fast forward 2 weeks since picking up the car, i was at a parking lot just admiring my car when i noticed the tires had cracks in between the tire treads. Both FRONT tires had severe cracking while the rears had minor cracks. On monday June 20th I went straight to the dealership's service department and told them to take a look, they said it'll most likely be getting replaced but they have to get approved from bmw canada, it as at this point that i mentioned about the leather and to my surprise they agreed to replace it.
The tires arrived the very next week but the leather took a while and finally on July 7th i took my car in to get both items replaced. When i dropped off my car they did a walk around to see if there's any damages and theres none on the car or rims what so ever, I specifically told the service advisor to not wash my car and he made note of that.
They gave me a brand new 2011 328i xdrive with 12KM on it as courtesy car while they worked on my car. On saturday July 9th, i get a call in the morning that my car is ready to be picked up, so i made my way down to the dealership in the afternoon to pick up my car. When they drove my car out for me to pick it up, they rinsed the car with water which kind of annoyed me since it was a sunny day which means hard water spots because i cannot dry the car off, also, the wheels were MASSIVELY covered in wheel lube which kind of surprised me with the amount they used, but since i specifically told them not to wash my car, it wasnt their fault.
On the very same day, when i was out at around 8pm, i did a quick walk around and discovered the 2 nick marks near the center cap, i kind of got angry but since it was just 2 small nicks i shrugged it off.
The very next day, sunday July 10th, i spent the afternoon washing the wheel lube off the wheels, it was at this time i discovered all the damages done to my wheels which was not there previously. I got very upset and angry with the amount of damages they did to my wheels. I just stood there staring at the damages trying to figure out how the hell they managed to do that. As you can see, most of the damages seems to be from tools slipping, specifically, the damage near the wheel weight.
So yesterday, before i headed to the dealership, i took pics of all the damages and marked it with masking tape. When i arrived, i asked to speak with the service manager, although i was very pissed off, i kept my self very calm and polite the whole time. I showed the damages to the service manager and it took him all of 20sec to inspect the damages and said "u have to understand our machines dont touch any part of the wheels where the damages r". I asked about the marks where the weights were, its obvious someone damaged the wheels from prying the old weights off. I stood there looking at him, he stood there looking at the damages with nothing to say. After staring for awhile, he said he'll get someone from customer relations to talk to me. The customer relations guy came to me and we talked about the damages, hes way more professional in dealing with me than the service manager (he basically took a look at the damages, said it wasnt their fault and walked off). We go back and forth reasoning and he insisted on getting the detailing department to fix the damages.
We go back and forth reasoning on how it happened, and he kept insisting on getting the detailing department to fix the wheels, i finally gave in and said fine, give it a try, but it will not look the same and i wouldnt accept it. I waited for quite some time before he came back to me and said, we r replacing ur wheels and tires with the exact same one since we have another identical car on the lot. I ended up leaving my car over night because they couldn't find that car with the specific wheel/tire combo. Again, they gave me a brand new 2011 328i xdrive with 11km on it as courtesy for the night and i picked up my car this morning with brand new rims on it.
And for all of u who r wondering which dealership it is, it's Brian Jessel.
All in all, their front of the house department is GREAT, from the initial sales to after sales, but their service department im not too sure, well specifically their service manager, because he basically walked off on me.

After reading the story, I'm not so sure if I want to take my BMW business to Brian Jessel. It looks like you argued for a long time, and numerous people walked off on you. Out of some miracle, you got replacement for free. If it was someone else, some other time, they probably won't get much at all.

Hi Topec,
This is Tim from Customer Relations. It was very nice to meet you and I'm very happy that it worked out in the end.
Just want to clarify that the "tech" that you were speaking of was actually one of our Wash Staffs who happened to walk by and gave his opinion on a situation that he has no idea about. He thought you were just a walk in client with a wheel damage concern.
The service manager came talk to me after hearing your concerns and we tried our best to come up with a resolution while you were there as we were not aware of this before your arrival.
We can see that you take great care of your new car and we trust that these damages were not there before your service visit. We have reviewed this with our technicians so that it will not happen again.
We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and we will be better in the future.
Regards,
Tim
