It is ingame but they record on a much more powerful PC where they can apply mass amounts of anti-aliasing to remove the jaggies. If games on the PC had these types of budgets with 400+ staff, it could already be done.

I think the overall feel is a lot better, might be the controller though. I usually play with the standard controllers not the steering wheel. but when it comes to drifting, for me at least, forza is a lot easier. I feel the back end kick out a lot better playing forza. And when you're learning how to play the progressive driving line really helps in learning when you can give more power or when you're going too fast. Just having the blinking light and brake zones marked in GT5 isn't as good

One of my biggest pet peeves is how cars feel in GT5 if they are standard vs premium, the standard cars just feel numb and like you're playing something from 5 years ago. And I love how they claim to have so many different models of cars when it's more like 50 models of skylines, 50 civics, 50 fairladys etc. whereas forza seems to have a more diverse range of cars.

As I've already stated the tuning in forza is just spectacular and you can also turn on the physics to see how your suspension, tire heat, g forces, etc. work. Engine swaps/drivetrain swaps are really cool too. One benefit in GT5 is that you can mod a ferrari 458 for the same amount of money as modding an EK civic, unrealistic but helps if you don't play that much. I'm also not a fan of how the A-spec races are pretty much the same as the ones from 5-10 years ago, whereas with forza you get more interesting races ie. Honda, hatchbacks, suv, executive cars, supra vs skyline.

I haven't played forza 3 on a steering wheel yet but I have played forza 2 on the microsoft one and it wasn't that great. I play GT5 regularly on the DFGT and feel that it does enhance the experience.

I'm a GT fan and even I admit they can't keep up with the times. The game feels archaic despite the 1080p graphics @ 60fps. Still fun as hell though and the meticulous details is what's keeping me around that game.

Forza Motorsport 4 (FM4)'s developers, Turn 10 Studios, signed a deal with Top Gear last year and footage from the show has already appeared in some versions of Forza 3.

You will be pleased to hear that Clarkson's commentary is optional and the big man can be silenced at the touch of a button. His musings will be integrated into the AutoVista feature of FM4 that allows gamers with an XBox 360 Kinect controller to open car doors, examine details and peer under the hood.

just tried out the demo, wow they really upped the graphics this time.
Sharper and the colours are a lot better. Sound has a bigger boost from the cars they have in the demo, esp the Sti. Day one purchase here, too bad toysrus doesn't have a cheap price on the LE.

IMO it fell short EVERYWHERE else in comparision to Forza. I gotta admit, I never played a Forza game because I was just anti xbox. After playing Forza 3, can never play GT anymore (unless they really step up the fun factor). But GT5 took this long to get released.... I'm like 2 hours into GT5, havent touched it since launch day. I've finished Forza 3.

I could rant on about GT5 forever. All that hype.

I spent $800 +tax for PS3 anticipating GT5....who knows how many years later it comes out and it just bombed in my opinion. If I never played Forza 3, I'd probably be talking about how awesome GT5 is.

Ugh Fanatec.

I tried to organize a big purchase of Fanatec products for RS members awhile ago. They have got to be the WORSSSSSSSSSSSSSST company to try and deal with. Disorganized as fuck.

You email, call, leave voice mails and no one replies for WEEKS. Then they call you back in odd hours, leave you a message and tell you to call their US office which again you email, call, etc and NO ONE replies for awhile. THen when you finally get a hold of someone, they say they'll email you more info and never get to it. I gave up after almost a month of trying to buy their products.

I've heard horror stories about trying to get warranty. They're too hard to reach and offer little to no support. In the beginning they're were on all the gaming forums endorsing their products, seemed like a good small company to deal with. Once they developed it, seems like no one can buy it or ever get it serviced.

Personally I would never spend so much money on a wheel that I can't get any sort of customer service with. The fucking thing breaks in one week you have a $400+ paper weight.

I'll wait til logitech developes something one day. I played forza3 with the normal controller and had tons of fun as is.

I'm a big GT fan as well. Starting playing GT1 since Play Station but after getting GT5 for Play Station 3, the mods are sooo limited on what you can do to cars. Went to my friends play Forza 3 and the map... Fujimi kaido or w.e its called blew me away. Only problem is I'm not used to the controls on the controller!!! I'll prob buy an XBOX just for Forza 4! (Wish my G25 worked with my xbox) Track graphics are better, but honestly I'd rather have more tracks to choose from. Let's add some more real life tracks that we can actually drive in real life, like Portland, ORP, Thunderhill, MoSport, maybe some more F1 tracks like Monza and Spa.. etc etc.

Man.. I was just at Mosport three weeks ago and it was absolutely brutal with all the blind corners, elevation changes and off-camber sweepers. It hadn't even been an hour, and an Evo 9 had already smashed into a wall. Absolutely fking nuts.

Logitech already produces licensed xbox 360 accessories, they just too cheap to include the hardware for XID in G wheels.

PS3/Windows uses USB HID which uses your CPU for calculating force feedback and input. 360 uses USB XID which offloads the processes for input and force feedback to a dedicated chip on the input device. XID costs more.

it depends on your driver level in forza 3. If u had the LCE version of Forza 3 your vip cars move over from that. Also some cars move over from dlc in forza 3. Heres the breakdown

Forza 3 Driver Level 1 = Forza 4 will import: 2010 Abarth 500 Esseesse
Level 5 - 2010 Ford Focus RS
Level 10 - 2010 Chevy Camaro SS

I actually picked up a Kinect at the beginning of the year to control my XMBC on my home theater PC by hand without keyboard. So I'll be putting it at my other setup in my games room to try the feature out. I'll let you guys know how it works.

They did improve a lot of things in 4 compared to 3. But there are always minor stuff that they never fix since Forza 2!

On a side note, what are your guys time for the Kia cee'd Top Gear challenge...I believe I'm at a 1:44.9. Having trouble getting a good start with all assists off and manual clutch.

To be honest I need to put more time into configuring it. I spent a little time trying to configure it and ran into some problems. I sit about 3ft away from my TV and my kinect sits on top of the TV.

During setting it up, it had a hard time finding my head while I sat in my lazy boy. In the setup screen your able to clip away background images, which I did just fine. It's just sometimes the kinect would grab my hand as my head when I'm shifting gears with my six speed shifter. I wanted to keep going but decided to just hop into the game right away.

I'll spend more time on it to try to get it going. Come to think of it, I think what I have to do is move the kinect motor up more and not having pointing down as much. That way not have it even look at me from the chest down, it should track my head better then.

Don't know how I didn't come up with that before. lol. I'll post my results. Even if you wanted to you can go buy a Kinect, if you don't like it return it. That's the great thing about Futureshop and Best Buy return policy to be honest. Nonetheless, I'll post my results tonight...sorry for the delay

One thing that it's great for is voice integration. Not having to go through the menu system is a nice time saver. At anytime I can say "xbox", and say anything that pops up on the bottom of the screen. Example, I can jump into Rivals, right from inside painting a car, or upgrade shop. Just from the car club screen, straight to my career I jusy say "xbox", "career". Which I've found helpful to be honest. I've won some cars from doing rival challenges and once I hit a certain level I get rewarded a car and it tells me to go to career mode. I just use the voice to jump straight to career, pick my new car and jump straight back to Rivals

ive never played any of the other forza games aside from forza 3 demo, didnt like the handling was just too arcadey.. but forza 4 seems very well balanced, not on Gran Turismo level simulation handling, but good enough for me...
basically it seems forza 4 is good at a lot of things, like an all around car game, while gran turismo is very good at just one thing simulation car handling and car graphics....
i just cant wait until game graphics actually look like the pre rendered videos we always see in intro's n shit, i think for next gen systems it's gonna look like that

Got a chance to sit down and really play it for an hour or two last night... The AI is noticeably improved over previous Forza's, I find. They actually give you space if you have the line on them in a corner, and get pressured into making mistakes.

It was pretty funny when I was right up one car's rear all the way up until the corkscrew at Laguna Seca, when the guy in front tries to brake too late and ends up going into the dirt. I can't entirely say it's a glitch or not, but it did feel pretty realistic.

The new braking sensitivity, simulation steering and the tire physics are awesome too. You can tell much easier when the tires are starting to break loose or lock up and correct accordingly.

Ah i see, there is something very wrong with my reasonably priced car race. Everyone just takes off like 5 car lenghts soon as i shift to second, so i watched the replays and i see when you guys shift from first to second the mph jumps from 35 to 40 in between that shift, while me on the other hand it just stays at 35mph and bogs down..
So from a dead stop until i have to shift to second im dead even, but once i make that first shift you guys are gone by 5 to 8 car lengths heading into the first corner already, its a really strange issue, ive tried shifting every different type of way and diff shify points, nothing works

Damn you were right, using the clutch gives me a good half a second up to a second and half on lap times, thanks for the heads up, i just beat a few rivals today that i couldnt before thanks to clutch.

I'm loving some of the cars shared in the club garage. Those C425 mazdas took more than 10 seconds off the time I set in some crap lancia I put together fast in the autocross monthly rival event. Now I need to practice manual more if I'm going to beat Kodamu's time.

I'd share more cars but I don't think you want the crap I have. I wouldn't know how to tune even if my life depended on it. Thank God for the club garage and store front.

I think i'm gonna clean up the share garage abit. Gonna leave the cars that are tuned for the class. Ex: C425 B500 A600 etc...... I'll leave the ones for drifting.

This way the share garage is more useful when you need a car for a certain class that you need to race in.

So I can build B-class cars that are wicked online, but get burned by people who use the same goddamn EM Civic, and AMC Javelin, keeping me from getting anywhere higher than 5th.

Any advice? I've got a DC2 and old MR2 that are both geared like that.

I tried building a Miata for C-class (since it's the one I found out I can actively keep up in), but the oversteer is excessive lol. I've gone back to my trusty Volvo 242 with some success, and I have yet to try a C30 I'm playing around with.

Test drove your car, I think it has enough power but it needs crappier tires.

get just the regular sport tires, then add some toe out on front and back and a def more caster angle
