In jail being called a "GOOF" is the worse thing. Along the lines of being called a RAT. If you got called a goof and don't stand up for yourself you'll basically be easy pickings.

Why is it that way? Who knows, to normal people you associate goof with goofy. In jail its just one of those terms used to call people out.

It doesn't just apply to brown people. It applies more to people that have gone through the criminal justice system regardless of ethnicity.

Very much a prison thing. Less so a jail thing if you catch the distinction. Either way, I've been called that lots of times in my line of work. Doesn't mean much to me even though I know it's a big insult for them. Nothing to do with brown people at all. Expect to get shanked if you say it to the wrong person.

As a couple people said goof is the worst word you can call someone in prison, its even more worse then nigger, chink etc basiclly a goof is someone who's the prison bitch and gets raped and shit.

I have a couple buddies who have done some time and you can joke around about it but if someone called him goof he didn't know the guy would be on the ground twitching more then Michael J Fox on a good bad day. I can tell ya one thing I don't think anyone would ever say that to my avatar lol

Last year I did 9 months. If you're calling someone a goof you are calling them a child molesting baby fucker. If you want to fight someone just call them a goof. If you are in there for kiddy crimes you get put in a unit called protective custody (PC) with all of the other goofs. If they were in the general population they would get beaten everyday.

Whistling is also a no no in jail but everyone knows that.

Apparently, back in the day the guards in federal prisons in the US would whistle the day an inmate would be getting executed by means of death penalty. I think the whistling would kind of symbolize happiness for the guards which of course would anger the inmates.
