I bought a WRT54GS long time ago. It got busted while moving and now i have to get a new router.

Anyone suggest anything better or should i go for the WRT54GS again. I never used any custom rom on it before but i was satisfied with it.

I see that it still costs as much as it did years and years ago so i was wondering if its still worth the $$$ comapred to new model routers out there.

I really recommend getting this one. I use it all the time for gaming on the ps3 and daily internet surfing on the computer and it hasn't let me down yet. Really fast and you should definitely this out --> D-Link Xtreme Wireless N Router (DIR-825) : Wireless Routers - Future Shop (http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/d-link-xtreme-wireless-n-router-dir-825/10111490.aspx?path=965cf96278e3b6fa10d55b88fd42163 ben02)

I have a WRT54GL v1.1 with DD-WRT installed on it for $10. Let me know if you wanna go that route. =D

WRT54GL is the best 802.11G router right now because it runs DD-WRT reliably. It is as stable as a rock.
RT-N16U may be the best 802.11N router right now because it runs Tomato reliably and is super solid.

I've personally had some trouble with a couple of Linksys routers before. D-Link, on the other hand, has never failed me

Bumping this thread.

My Linksys WRT54G isn't holding up, lots of dropped connections especially when there's lots of people on the connection.

Time to upgrade router.. suggestions? Want robustness.

I was also looking at Linksys E4200 but it wasn't available when I got my RT-N56U. The high throughput is awesome and so is the dual-band wifi.

This is a good site if you want to look at each router's performance:

Been using the D-Link DGL-4500 for the past few years, no complains, it's old, but it works. =]

The e4200 is a sweet router. The asus is probably a good buy.
