VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) -A mock taxi from the reality TV show "Cash Cab" has been involved in a fatal accident, after hitting and killing a man on Cordova Street late Friday night.
A day of filming had wrapped, and a member of the crew was behind the wheel heading to a storage lot when the crash happened around midnight.
The 61-year-old Surrey man hit by the van was seriously injured and died a few hours later in hospital.
The vehicle is made up to look like a Yellow Cab, but Carolyn Bauer with the company says other than the markings on the outside, the company has no affiliation with the production. "The vehicle is not owned by us. It was a vehicle made up to look like a Yellow Cab. It's not owned by us, it's not insured by us."
The show's production company, Castlewood Productions, is offering condolences to both the victim's family and the crew member behind the wheel.
So far this year there have been 13 traffic-related fatalities in the City of Vancouver, nine of which were pedestrians.
