Buy a pair of "real" headphones and get the zalman clip on mic. It clips to the cord. I've tried headset headphones with the mic, they sound like garbage. Koss Porta pros would be pretty good and affordable.

SQ for under $60, get the portapros, and you'll have some $ left over for a mic.

I had the Sennhesier PC350's. They're well balanced. Very musical. MSRP $200.
Only grip was I wish it had independent control of the voice and sound.
I got the TB X11's for my Xbox 360, ended up just selling the PC350's and keeping the X11's since it works for PC and Xbox. But the sound and comfort goes to the Sennheisers. The convenience goes to the Turtle Beach X11 cuz it works with Xbox360 + has independent voice/sound controls. I'm not sure how well it works for PC though.

I run the PC350's myself. I got it at an NCIX door crasher $129. Worth even the $200 price I think - they are so clear, and comfortable. The microphone is very good at filtering background noise and getting crisp clear voice.
