I am just wondering if we have a history of needle shots taken when we were in elementry school??

i am pretty darn sure i never got the rust shot when i was in elementry, i never bothered getting it...

well now i am scared i might have an infection from doing car maintenance which leads to tetanus, and i beleive that is curable if you got the shot, which i dont have i am pretty sure..

my pinky got cut, i never knew till i had to do some errands... i never thought it was serious so i didnt wash the cut till after about 45 minutes..

so i noticed when i apply pressure to my pinky bone there is pain in the joint, the cut was right on the joint also.. it was just yesterday when i got the cut... i am scared and paranoid now

how soon can a doctor give me the rust cut? and will it cure my tetanus if i do have it

if you dont know what "tetanus" is here is a link below
Tetanus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetanus)
man i sure hope i dont end up like that guy in the pic in the link

Yeah, you should see a doctor ASAP.

They should have all the records of your past shots taken.

Good luck.

Everytime you go to the hospital emerg for almost anything they give you a tetanus shot.
"Rust shot" lol
Have you been to the emerg for anything in the past five years? Thats how often your supposed to get a tetanus shot I believe.
Anytime you cut yourself on or near a joint in your hands its gonna hurt right round the joint and bone thats usual inflammation caused by the cut.

FYI, you should be getting a booster tetanus shot every 10 years. Speaking of which, I think I'm overdue myself for a booster!

i believe tetanus shots aren't given in schools, you have to get one yourself

They do do tetanus at school but yeah you need one every 10 years and it won't hurt you to get them more often.

So go and get one ASAP.

The fucking shot usually hurts more than the damn cut. My last one was in my shoulder and it hurt for a week!

Berz out.

if you go to your local health authority (fraser health, vancouver coastal health) you can ask a list of your past immunizations.

if you are not sure get the shot. It's not that bad and think you will be fine for the next 10 years with nothing to worry about.

everyone in the past like 15 years got one in gr.10 in high school, so if your within that time range your probably good

Tip # 1: Don't ask for acute medical advice on the internet.

^depends. There are some educated people =).

If you're truly paranoid, I'd go to the medical emergency to get a prophylactic/post-exposure tetanus shot. The shot is given if in any case you are infected, it's pretty much like an antitoxin (think of it as an antibiotic). If i were you, I'd get your tetanus shot even if you don't have any symptoms just because it can be quite fatal as ppl have mentioned.
