how to install power locks on a 2000 toyota corolla?

So I'm trying to install automatic locks on my 2000 toyota corolla.. problem is after i took off the door panels, there a plastic tube around the rod for the lock [its to prevent slim jims]... how can I bypass this piece of plastic? there is not enough room to cut it off easily. its almost sitting right behind a panel so its hard to get to... any suggestions from people that have worked with this?

Just a very short little hook at the end. You can try and attach your actuator rod there but its not to reliable.

Professional services are required for this application. I've done many. It's easier to show you what my experience has taught me about that issue.
Can you bring it in with the panel off?

For that year they are rods. You can cut the plastic off and attach the rod that comes with the kit to the OEM lock rod. As installerz said though, bring it by a sponsor's shop and they can set it straight. Most will offer a lifetime warranty on labour too.
