I'm sure the political junkies of RS will care, but for the rest of you, check out this link to the CBC with a news brief and a video of his press conference:
Jack Layton to take leave after new cancer found - British Columbia - CBC News (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/07/25/layton-ndp.html)
He doesn't look nor sound like the same person just a few months ago on the campaign trail. I don't agree with his politics, but I wish him well in his recovery.

my thoughts exactly. If he was in any other party he would be PM by now.

He looks so frail and skinny.
Such sad news - I hope he makes a full recovery. Seems honest in his ways.

hes a good man and definitely believes in what he stands behind. whether or not his views are the same as mine are irrelevant. hes a good man and a good leader and a good politician. wish him the best of luck in his recovery.
you can bet tho, if he doesnt return, the NDPs run as official opposition will be a 1 term only deal. layton made that campaign a success.

yea man he lost soo much weight, poor guy
i feel for anyone who gets cancer.
He'd be PM by now if he was running as a Liberal or Conservative. He has the passion and charisma that we've been lacking for so many years.

Saw him on the news the other day; he's physically a completely different person
hope he pulls through
as for political leaders he's been my favourite of the three in recent years
