if its properly ventilated then it shouldnt crash/die out of no where.

that's why you set auto shutdown after an hour :)

I've left it on for days and no problem. You should be fine.

they can run folding @ home 24/7, I ran one (spare with a fried laser) 24/7 for about 3 weeks, no problem. Technically it should be able to run all day every day until a capacitor or the harddrive die.

depends if you have a fat one or a slim
fat one has a much higher rate of overheating even if properly ventilated
i've left my slim run for over a week...but probably a day max for my fat.

ive left my launch fat one on for a few days recently
(i forgot it was on and never set an auto shut off)
its just like leaving your desktop on 24/7
but if you're concerned just set the auto-shut-off timer

I'm pretty sure mine is on and idling more than it is off. No problems.
Watch it break tonight lol *knocks on wood*

left my fat on by accident for about a week no problems. idling it's not really creating a lot of heat IMO since there's no disc spinning.
my friend used to work for a game company and they leave their ps3's on pretty much 24/7 and he's only seen 1 ps3 crap out (but seen 30% failure rate in their xboxs :troll:)

What if it's idling with the game running

Stores that display the PS3, and other systems, will, typically, leave them on 24/7. Unless you have crap ventilation, i don't see a problem in doing the same.

the disc will spin, it doesnt stop spinning until u either exit the game, or take out the disc. and i dont think its the spinning of the discs that creates the heat.

Isn't some school or such using a whole wack of these to do processing of data? Those should be running 24/7 as well
