Window Media Player Feels very Slow?

Any idea on why and how to fix WMP running slow?

by slow, I mean, when I am playing a file, and I click the playback bar (e.g. to go back or go forward to a particular part), there is like a 0.5-1sec delay. It doesn't matter what kind of file....whether it is a 3MP file or a 2GB video, same thing happens.

I use VLC and mediaplayer classic and they don't have the same problem.

Does anyone have the same problem or know how I can fix it?

comp spec:
Phenom X4 965
8GB DDR3
WD Caviar Black 640GB
GTX460
Window 7

WMP just isn't a very good media player - especially when playing high bitrate files or custom codecs. You're lucky that it's just a second delay when you're seeking. If you have a crappier computer, it might actually mean the video playback will be choppy. You can try installing k-lite packs - like c_loke suggested.... but not sure if that will solve the problem.

but honestly, I just stick with VLC for my video playback - there's so much more it can do.
