The 1 billion dollar house is in a really shitty (literally) place, too. It needs all those amenities, since they won't be strolling around the neighborhood, that's for sure.

A member from another forum who lives in India posted a story about a Indian King who's people had suffered drought for a number of years. He decided to give them food and water. His people refused. Instead they built him a palace and them took food and money for payment. I think the palace still stands in some form in India today.

Unlike Sheiks in the middle east who import materials and workers from around the world, 90+ % of the materials and labor used in this house come from India. Mukesh Ambani basically dumped a huge amount of money into the Indian economy and has provided 600+ people with jobs. Ambani holds a lot of meeting at his house eith people from around the world and is showing what Indian companies can do.

In 2009, Trump donated nothing. In 2008, he contributed $30,000.

Why do people with so much money have such terrible taste in furniture and interior design? It's like Donald Trump's place...it's full of gold and shit that looks like it's from...well, Versaille. That sort of thing is beautiful in the context of history but goddamn is it ugly in any other environment. It's just so gaudy.

That last picture looks a bit more refined and modern. It's not particularly good looking on the outside either.

That being said, it's an impressive amount of money dumped into this place but $2 billion is too fucking much for a private residence.

That's just TOO MUCH space, really. Imagine trying to find your keys. OH FUCK, DID I LEAVE IT IN ROOMS 18-46 OR SOMEWHERE ON THE 81st FLOOR?!

Why? It's his money. He can do what he wants with it. He's not REQUIRED to give it away to the poor. Great responsibility only comes with great power in Spider-man comics.

However, if he's going to build this thing here, he should've sourced the labor from the area. Dumping a billion into the Mumbai economy would make a massive difference and he gets a huge ass house.

He earned his money. No reason he can't spend it where he wants.

He did. They made sure 90+% of the materials used to build the house are from India unlike people in the middle east that import everything.

The photo's of the interior are jut drawings and not the real thing. the family is living on 4 floors of the house. the house itself cost less than 100 million to build.

The Most Expensive House in the World Completed - $1 Billion Antilia Building (Mumbai) (http://www.overseaspropertymall.com/property-type/billionaire-homes/1-billion-antilia-mumbai-the-worlds-most-expensive-house-completed/)

Known as a deeply private man, there is widespread surprise that Ambani has made such a lavish statement of his wealth. However, the property is thought to have cost an estimated £44m to build, and because of Mumbai’s massive land and property prices, is worth at least £630m, it is a very good investment, perhaps too good to miss.

Know complained when a single white 22 year old bought a 55000 square foot house for 85 million.

Actual pic of the house.

easy - they dont buy it out of opinion, but because its expensive and people say if you buy it, you are rich. two words: ed hardy. more extreme example that people may not agree with: rolls royce :-p

Try to build a house like that in Vancouver you would be stuck in zoning hell for years and have every hippy screaming at you. In India you could do anything you wanted.

For the price of a Vancouver crack shack you could have a nice compound in India with servants and a personal driver waiting on you 24/7.

How many billionaires in Vancouver?

Edit:
India has 69 billionaires Canada has 24.

WooooW! soooo stubborn!
Canada has 24 with a population of 36 million
India has 69 with a population of 1.1 billion

A billion more people and only 45 more billionaires :bowrofl: quality > quantity

And Mumbai, India doesn't really have much to brag about, most of the population is poor as fuck. With a few dozen frivolous rich people competing with each other over who can be more frivolous. Essentially a pissing contest

That's disgusting.

Building a monument to wealthy decadence in the middle of one of the poorest places in the world?

It's kind of ironic that he compared it to Versailles... I wonder if his wife will stand on the balcony and say 'Let them eat cake' too.

lol you are such a douche

The Size of the Middle class in India is bigger than the whole population of the USA. Yes there's a lot of poor people iN India but not every one is living in mud huts.
