Uhhhh....I watched 1 minute and that was a waste. Who the hell wants to watch the whole thing? Does she expose herself? Cliffs are needed.

People comentate on fighting games? How long has that been going on?

and fighting game are not?
Aren't they move-spam and reflex based?
Having 200+ APM in SC2 isn't going to win you the game. But in a fighting game, assuming you're not a newb and can read the other player's avatar properly, then wouldn't you win just based on your reflexes of timing attacks?

I agree that it's pointless for Street Fighter to have commentary, but not because it has no strategy (because it does),
but it's such a fast paced game that by the time someone comments on what's going on, the fight has changed drastically already.
And it's very easy to see what's going on as a viewer. If any sort of strategy is being played out, it will be executed too quickly for a
commentator to say.
Unlike SC2, a much slower paced type of game, there's plenty of time to
analyze the game, talk about build order, gameplay options, etc

over 100k people watched evo this year. The matches would be quite boring without commentary for the viewer.

This is what great commentary sounds like.
There is even commentary for marvel.

Pretty ignorant to think that there is no strategy in fighting games or the need for commentary.

There's definitely strategy/tactics, but the commentators failed to comment on any because of the reasons I posted earlier.
The commentating helped introduced the players, their background, some pre-game info, and maybe talk about their rankings, etc.
During in-game, the only thing commentating added was give a "home environment" where
when you're playing at home with a bunch of friends, all your friends are in the background shouting "ohhhh!!! ahhhhh!! NICE! WOW! COMMBO!!!"
I guess you are right though... the background shouting does make it more exciting. (not being sarcastic)

Try color commentary/play by play in ANYTHING and you will realize how difficult it is... The ppl calling the matches are seasoned enough to know what the hell is going on...
This isn't stupid, its called broadcast jounalism...albeit amateur, still better than 99% of RS

I think at the highest point it was 89000+ viewers with over a million views. More precise stats were on Shoryuken.com's webpage
