Help buying a camera
so im looking to buy a new camera but know very little about them =[...heres an idea of what i need
i would prefer it to be a canon that will last me more than 2 years
-no or very little delay in taking a pic
-mp im not sure i would like it to be high but some1 said its not always good to be high =s
-id like it to be able to record video + audio (if i can get HD even better)
-preferably have a rechargeable battery
-price range $200-300 but im flexible on this and willing to spend more

are you looking for a DSLR? if so, i think they cost quite a bit more if they can record video. i bought an XSi for 325$ and that sure as heck doesnt have video..i think ones that can record are like 500$+ ?

Since you prefer a Canon, go buy a Canon s95 or if you don't want to spend $400+ for an awesome camera, go get yourself an ELPH 300.

+1 for the s95. It's a little bit more than your listed price range but it's well worth it for what you get in a camera
I don't think that the S95 is suitable for all consumers. For someone who only uses the camera in Auto Mode, the S95 is too expensive and won't be used fully.
to the OP - are you interested in doing post-proceessing on the images? ie, using photoshop to do edits? if so, the S95 is great, because it can record RAW images. You can also adjust the settings on the camera a lot easier - like with a DSLR.
Otherwise, the lower models - like the 500HS is a great camera withOUT the Raw image capabilities.

I had a SD780 ...such an awesome little camera, fits everything the OP wants.
The newer version is quite good as well.

Is size an issue? ie: fit in pocket, ultra compact, etc.?

compact would be nice =]
what is the difference between the Canon PowerShot SD1400IS black and the Canon SD1400IS silver? Besides the color & price difference, all i see is one that says Powershot in the name and one doesnt...
