I've seen adapters that allow you to go from a sata drive to a ata100 mobo, but is it true that you can't go from an ata100 hd to a sata mobo?

I have a ide/ata drive that I want to use as my slave which only has sata ports and the master is also a sata drive.
The guy at ncix says if I got an pci card that is a ide controller it could work but not sure about the slave part as it would run it as a master.

the master/slave relationship that existed with IDE is not applicable for SATA stuff.

if i read that correctly, you have one sata and one IDE drive? Then i also would suggest some sort of an add-in card with an IDE port, pci or pci-e. Adapters like the one i linked would probably be flaky.

edit: thats if you really MUST use that ide drive. best solution is just to spend $50 on a new sata drive to replace it... if its IDE i'm assuming its very old, and its definitely going to be slow.

+1. for all that trouble of getting the adapter just buy a cheap SATA drive.
