"I was doing yard work one Sunday morning, and I heard what I thought was a rape," she says. "My heart was pounding and I had tears in my eyes, and I thought 'Oh my God, what am I going to do?' "
That was the summer of 2009. Edmands didn't know what house the disturbing noise came from, so she walked away without doing anything, feeling sick to her stomach. After talking to neighbours and doing some Internet research, she concluded the troubling incident was actually "sex and moaning and screaming" that emanated from a private late-night swinger party at a single-family residence across the ravine on River Road. The suspicion was confirmed later that summer, Edmands says, when she was kept up all night by a woman's sporadic howls of ecstasy.
"There is different points of view from all the people in the neighbourhood," Whitehead says. "I can laugh. I'm single. If I wanted to go to a porn movie or something I don't have to — I can open the windows or sit out on my porch. It's quite entertaining."

This stuff happens all the time.
I had the misfortune of renting from a couple who were these kinds of swingers (not to paint all of them with the same brush cause I'm sure most of them are lovely). Though in hindsight there's something vaguely amusing about a 19 year old girl wading through a bunch of half passed out and drunk 40 year olds to tell the owners they need to turn their fucking music off cause she has a calculus exam to write in 3 hours and needs to get some bloody sleep.

Some people are just prudes, if they hear anyone having sex they are going to feel ill. She should come by my place, she'll hear it more than once one Sunday morning and against later on in the summer - she'll need ear plugs every night.

neighbours back in the early 90's use to have swingers parties all the time.. i was like 7 or 8 at the time.. never knew about it until my mom told me this year lol they could hear that shit outside in their backyard

I remember hearing about that place years go. Always struck me as odd given that it was on River Road of all places.

This article came to mind when I read this thread. Yes it's a married couple (not a bunch

A woman who was banned from making loud noises during sex has lost an appeal against her conviction.
Caroline and Steve Cartwright's love-making was described as "murder" and "unnatural" at Newcastle Crown Court.
Neighbours, the local postman and a woman taking her child to school complained about the noise.
Mrs Cartwright, 48, from Washington on Wearside, lost the appeal against a conviction for breaching a noise abatement notice.
She argued she had a right to "respect for her private and family life" under Article 8 of the Human Rights Act.
But Recorder Jeremy Freedman, sitting with two magistrates, rejected her claim that she could not help making the loud noise during sex.
He said: "We are in no doubt whatsoever about the level of noise that can be heard in neighbouring properties, in the street and in the back lane.
"It certainly was intrusive and constituted a statutory nuisance. It was clearly of a very disturbing nature and it was also compounded by the duration - this was not a one-off, it went on for hours at a time.
"It is further compounded by the frequency of the episode, virtually every night."
'Shouting and screaming'
Next door neighbour Rachel O'Connor told the court she was frequently late for work because she overslept having been awake most of the night because of the noise.
She said: "The noise sounds like they are both in considerable pain. I cannot describe the noise. I have never ever heard anything like it."
The court heard Sunderland City Council recorded levels of up 47 decibels.
Mrs Cartwright was appealing against the abatement notice, which was imposed in November 2007, and a subsequent Asbo, banning the couple from "shouting, screaming or vocalisation at such a level as to be a statutory nuisance".
She has since been accused of three counts of breaching the Asbo, but has denied the charges and will stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court on 14 December.
