1) they will have to give you written notice. the period is usually stated in the contract.
2) also will be in teh contract. such as critical illness. outcome will also be stated.
have you read the contract? if the contract does not state your questions, and the outcome, come up with a fair suggestion for both parties and get the employer to amend it. you dont need a lawyer - just some common sense and good judgement.
