doesnt sound like anything will happen if you read this Don’t Mix Oil And Latex Paint | Jendi's Journal
but in comments
"Wiki Answers says the mixture DOES produce a toxic gas."

It'll be fine. Especially in the garage.
A small secret...even latex over oil isn't a huge, its going to reject and peel right off situation. I wish it would!
It sits there, just fine, until you do something expecting it to stay there, and it chips off. Put some tape on the wall, and some of the wall comes with you. Do it in a moist, bathroom environment, and it will peel.
Do I recommend you do it? No. But it is not the end of the world.

What and lose the "where's my RS lobster" comment? Totally applicable for someone allergic to shellfish
I will add, if you are concerned, you can sand the affected area, and use an oil based primer, and then re-paint as you like.
Oil based primer is like the go-to product for fuck-ups |

Its a older POS house, I was mostly just covering up spraypaint, graffetti etc etc with a mitchmatched bucket of paint. But after 2 hours it was still very wet to the touch and I realized my mistake after the girlfriend went to wash out the oil covered brushes with water in the sink. She got grey paint halfway up her arms and the shit wouldnt wash off! I grabbed the gas can and indroduced her to the world of solvents haha

So, I've gotta ask...is this the same house where you have the pool in the backyard, or is this a new rental?

Place is a bit of a fixer-upper, but for reduced rent I'm willing to throw some time into it. It just got out of being a 'op', needs drywall work, paint, removal of tuck tape etc
