Just found out the BBQ comp BBQ On The Bypass is this Sunday. I went last year but showed up at 3pm and didn't get much but if you like BBQ you can't miss this at all. The food is wicked as you can guess and it's really neat seeing everyone in action.

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) - Summer ain't over yet -- and neither is barbecue season. News1130 is test-tasting the upcoming BC championships in Langley.
BBQ on the Bypass is in Langley this Sunday and includes the final event of the provincial BBQ championships.
"It's a traditional, Southern-style barbecue cook-off," explains organizer Angie Quaale. "We have teams coming from as far away as Regina and Oregon and all over Washington and BC. They'll all descend on the parking lot of Well Seasoned on Saturday night and they'll start cooking meat."
It will smoke -- slow and low -- all night. By Sunday morning, it's magic!
"They'll turn in pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, and ribs to be judged. Once the food goes in to the judges, then they sample all the food that's left to the public. At 11 a.m., it's pulled pork. Noon is brisket, 1 p.m. is chicken, [and] 2 p.m. is ribs."
There's also the Ultimate Burger Challenge and the Great BC Bake Off -- an old fashioned pie contest!
"There are three categories of pie. There's a fruit pie, an 'anything' pie and -- because we're Canadian -- a butter tart contest," says Quaale.
The pie category is open to the public and anyone can enter on the day of competition.
Besides the title of BBQ on the Bypass Grand Champion, the BC champ will also be crowned on Sunday, earning the David Valjacic Memorial Cup. There are also cash prizes.
About 30 teams will compete, including House of Q and Rub My Butt from Surrey; Mad Cow, Porkaholics and Helluva Q from Langley; Whistler’s BBQ Bob & the Eh Team; and Lynn Valley Butts, Smoke N Bones BBQ, and Bad Ass BBQ from North Vancouver.
Be sure to arrive hungry! The event will also feature a marketplace, concessions and BBQ food samples provided by the teams.
The BBQ on the Bypass is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of Well Seasoned at the corner of Glover Road and Highway 10 in Langley. You'll see the smoke from miles away.
