Earlier this morning on marine dr. close to boundary, a white civic started high beaming on n off, on n off. Two things came to my mind, 1. hes probably a dick or 2. :suspicious: if i recall correctly, on hwy rules.. if you see cops on the side radaring, you should flash your lights to warn the on coming traffic..
So i slowed down from 70 to 60ish.. and yep, the car beside me going 70 got pulled lol

so thx buddy!

70 in a 50? That's pretty rough.

a lot of people go 80+ on Marine Dr.
If I drive 50 in the right lane, I get tailgated like a mofo.
60 is usually okay, there will always be someone else driving faster than you.

I do the high beaming when i'm going down night towards the bridge or up towards 57th

more people need to do it, sneaky bastards hiding behind trees

Cops are getting sneakier and sneakier, saw one on Oak, crouched behind a van in somebody's driveway......

I try to stay off marine drive. My scooter is kind of obnoxious.
Especially in the early hours or after midnight.
Sure I can do 80+ along with the rest of the traffic, but that's just asking for it.

Better to do 65+ on a "big street" like 41st, rather than 75+ on marine.

holy shit!, thats the exact spot where my buddy got pulled over as well not to while ago, for going 80 or something

Well, granted, that's a known spot. When I used to drive there, I'd always go 50-60 from Kerr, I think, all the way to where the limit goes up to 80.

an old friend of mine got ticketed from flashing the oncoming traffic in Richmond. I wasn't in his car and he could not recall where the cop spotted him, but the ticket was written "illegal high beam". He disputed and the cop did not show up.

edit: he was pulled over by a cop several blocks away. It was back in 2002 or something.

they really need to change the speed limit from Kerr till Boundary. Cause after Boundary i believe it gradually changes to 80

Marine is just stupid.. I drive it everyday to and from work.. It's 50 from Airport to the light just after Boundary in Burnaby.. then goes to 80 from there to Byrne, then back to 50.. yet now because of the construction it's practically 50 from Airport to Stewartson (sp?)..

They should atleast raise it to 60 from Victoria to Boundary.. then 80 from Boundary to Queensborough bridge..

Everybody travels pretty fast down Marine Drive from my experiences, and never have I actually encountered a cop on Marine (knock on wood). But that might be because I only travel down there right after rush hour.

Just two weeks ago I was going up Boundary and saw a cop hiding right underneath the overpass going downhill. I flashed my highbeams like crazy, hopefully I saved a fellow driver or two.

I got got a ticket last week on the way to work, he caught me doing 79 in a 50. On the way home, cops were posted up again but on my side again...

There's an accident almost every day between kerr and boundary. Mostly at marine way and marine dr. intersection because people go 80 westbound and people turning onto marine way barely get a glimpse of these vehicles going around the corner before they smash into them.

Cops tend to hide near the intersection near boundary and marine dr. or after kerr and marine dr. Marine drive in general is sketchy because of all the speeders, they also hang out on the southbound lane of boundary near the lights to catch people going to fast down the hill, again because this intersection always has accidents. I think it should be a freeway from boundary to the queensburough. Someday it will happen.

If you can't drive safely while doing 70 down marine. You shouldn't have your liscense in the first place.

Going 70 down marine is only unsafe if everyone else is doing 50

perhaps those that crashes, they deserve to get into accident. let them get into accident couple times than they will pick up the pace.

crashing is part of learning, just like walking, im sure when you were a baby trying to walk you fall couple times and eventually you will get it.

even if the speed limit is 80, ppl still go 50!

its why we have traffic jams, we dont even have much cars on the road, its just ppl going stupid slow, ive literally seen 2 cars side by side doing 45 on the knight st bridge, with a huuuuge line up behind them

70 on marine is hardcore dangerous. It's a business road with lots of people trying to turn and tons of trucks. If you made the speed limit 70 you'd need to put up pre light change warnings at every intersection on that street. 60 however would be a lot more reasonable.

Lets not be confused.. I think most of us are talking about Marine WAY.. not Marine DRIVE. (2 different roads)

Marine WAY's limit should be held at 70/80 from Queensborough to Elliot? (Light after Kerr going Westbound) Then maybe dropped to 60/70 form Elliot to Knight.. But 50 from Boundary to Airport is stupid.

No, traffic occurs when people are merging or when ONE person brakes for no reason instead of coasting, and causes the person behind them to freak out and break, and causes the person behind THEM to brake.. and so on.

Wut?
So the reason people get into accidentS is because they're going too slow?

Granville is extremely dangerous. From king edward to around 20th(?) there's no lights except for pedestrian crosswalks so everyone guns it. Then they get to the commercial districts and lights errywhere.
