My friend is too sick to even go to the doctor for a check-up and her throat is extremely swollen from coughing all day long nonstop. Her mother cant speak english either but she can get the prescription from the doctor if she has the name for it.
Does anyone know the actual prescribed name for the cough medicine?

Bullshit. That's impossible. Drogba played the 2011 world cup with malaria, tell your friend to grow a set.

call an ambulance
call an ambulance
Sounds about right. If I was that bad, I'd drag myself into a hospital.

hey, i got an idea........... since you're her friend, why don't YOU take her to the doctor instead of coming on RS asking to find a solution that's right infront of you.

Scoop a spoonful of honey and mix it with hot water and add some lemon. Hot Honey Lemon, I find that always works, soothes the throat. This can suffice in the meantime until your friend gets some buckley's or something.

Is it phelgm? Cause that we me about a month ago.
I had strep throat and ridiculous chest congestion
I had to drag myself to my doctor's.
was on antibiotics, advil cold and sinus and some sort of cough syrup with expectorant to help keep the chest congestion under control.

people usually get ratio-cotridin for coughs.. there an expectorant version as well.. theres another one called calmylin ace syrup as well.. i dont see it used as much so maybe its stronger?
theres also weaker cough syrup with codeine you can try behind the counter..

Hey, a commonly prescribed cough medicine is Cotridin. It comes in two forms, one with Guafenisen, an expectorant for a phlegmy productive cough, and one without.
Codeine is a cough suppressant but it only works 50% of the time. For the sore throat, I recommend a salt water gargle, cough candy like halls, etc to sooth the throat. Or the Chloraseptic spray to numb the throat.
ok, first thing first.. is this cough dry or wet (phlegmy, sputum etc.)?
If its a wet type cough.. is there any color to the stuff coming out??

I'm pretty sure this is the one I used when I had a bad dry cough, it worked wonders in regards to helping me sleep

If I was a doctor, I would not write a prescription without seeing the patient first.

too sick to go to the doctor? cough so bad her throat is swelling?
Dude, take her to the fucking doctor....cough syrup, advil, buckleys, etc treat the symptoms, not the cause.
dont be a douche and take her to the fucking doctor. its been almost 12 hours since the OP...could have been solved by now...

lol codeine. might as well give her ephedrine.
anyways. if your friend is "cant get out of bed sick" i'd suspect she has a lot more than a severe cough. maybe flu?
if her mom can't speak english and can't take her to hospital maybe you should do what a friend does and take her there?

ephedrine is the principal chemical in ephedra (ma-huang in chinese)
pretty common ingredient in chinese medicine (cough medicines) and EC stack (for weight loss). regulated when they figured out ephedrine could be used to make meth.
^ skinnypup's m.i.f.o.f b/c ephedrine has nothing to do with coughs whereas codeine does
