Anybody know what's the occasion for the fireworks show that's been ongoing for the past 20 minutes?

Not a clue. Was just about to ask the same thing. Any idea where it's coming from? I can only see reflections of fireworks from the buildings around me.

West End neighbours want notice about big events
Fireworks show held that scared locals
Lara Fominoff Sep 21, 2011 20:05:05 PM
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Some people living in Vancouver's West End say it would be nice if Vancouver City Hall gave them notice about large fireworks displays, other than the Celebration of Light and sports events.
On Tuesday night, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers put on a light show to celebrate the end of their convention, and the West End Residents Association President Christine Ackermann says it startled a number of people.
"It would have been a really nice neighbourly gesture to let our community know that something was happening, so that residents weren't worried, weren't concerned."
She says she got numerous calls wondering what was happening.
News1130 also took many calls from locals, who were either afraid something terrible was happening or from those who wanted to watch the fireworks display.
