Connecting computer via HDMI audio issues

Brand of computer: HP
Model number: m8120n

I've been wrestling with this for a few days now. Googled my ass off and now I'm posting here.

I have a LG monitor that has an HDMI port connected to my PC via HDMI. There is no sound coming out of my speakers even though in the sound control panel I see the green bars bouncing up and down. When I connect my headphones to my external speakers 3.5mm jack i hear the sound.

I had this problem once before and updated my drivers and it solved the issue. Now it somehow resurfaced again and nothing is working so far. Here is a screen shot of whats in my sound control panel:

Update:

Ok so far i rolled back some drivers and reinstalled the Realtek audio drivers.
My sound panel looks different now. I played around with different options as setting them as default. I see green bouncing columns indicating the computer is playing sound.

I have onboard sound on my computer and it was working like that before. It somehow stopped working.

I can plug in my headphones regardless into my external speaker that has a 3.5mm jack and i can hear music

Also attached updated screen shot of my sound panel

Help me guys

Do you mean you have no sound coming out of your LG monitor's speaker?

If so, that's because your pc is set to use the 3.5mm audio out channels. (see the green check icon?)
You need to change the default audio output from "Realtek HD audio / Speakers" to "HDMI / Monitor output".
*(right click on the TV/HDMI icon and select "Set as default device")

Your audio jack on the computer will no longer work after you do this btw.

Sorry i needed to clear up some more info.
I want to get sound out of my computer because my speakers have three plug ins (orange, black and green) because of my subwoofer. I understand that my monitor has its own 3.5mm jack and even if i do plug in my green plugin for my speakers into the monitor i still have no sound.

When i select my HDMI as the default device i have the same problem as in i see the green bars but no sound.

Are you using onboard or discrete graphics?

If discrete, You may have to set the graphics card "audio device" as your default playback device.
