I know that there is another thread for alternations, but that one is dead and its for Surrey.
Where are some good places for hemming in Vancouver, Burnaby, or Richmond and the price if you know it?
I had a bad experience with this place last time :S

never do it from sitch it or w/e its called and any places inside malls. Shitty job and expensive. A good one is Richmond Public market near Richmond centre on Westminster highway and between garden city and 3 road area
ive done hemming and repairs at stitch and i thought it was fine.
not cheap but i thought it was alright.
dutil uses stitch in metro for their repairs.

I have 3 dress pants that need hem + taper. Anyone know of a good place? I know Stitches is good, but only for jeans? Anyone know anywhere that's good for dress pants where I can also get measured up as well?
Albert's Tailor - Downtown Vancouver BC (http://albertstailor.com/)
got my samurais tapered and hemmed there. Old asian guy who knows everything. Price is good too

Got my Naked and Famous ones done by him too. I had my wallet hole fixed as well.

I think it has been recommended on RS before but Oakridge Tailors does a great job and is less than $10 for hemming. It is a block and a half west (I think) of 41st along Cambie.

If you're in Richmond, go to Pak Lane Tailor Co, 1128-8700 McKim Way.
It's a small place, but the guy does a good job at a fair price. I don't remember the prices off the top of my head, I just got a suit done there.

Try and avoid Stitches in Metrotown. They're very inconsistent if you ask for a certain size hem and just looks sloppy. Uneven 1/4inch hem on both the jeans I left them. Asked if they could colour match the threads and they said "sure". Both pairs came out black..

Anybody know a place with good reputation or had experience with not hemming jeans but altering tops? like blazers, long sleeves or shirts? and how much?
Thanks
For original hemming for Jeans, I had good experience with Two Sisters Alterations on 2238 Kingsway Vancouver close by Nanaimo St. Good price and they can do it within an hour if you pay a bit more. For other alterations not sure but they do a pretty good job for all my jeans.

I have got a rip on my jeans (knee cap area) and was wondering if there is another way to fix it aside from patching with the cloth from the inside? Any hemming places would know how to fix it? Or am I stuck using a patch?

if your in burnaby, ive had good experience with "instant tailoring" inside brentwood mall(right beside the pet habitat store). they do the job quick, and for a simple hemming it costs 8$ i believe...taken several zip up hoodies there as well to get the zippers fixed.

Amen to this man. I didn't realize it at first cus I was in a rush, but I had a pair of $200 jeans hemmed by them and one pair turned out to have stacks on the bottom while the other didn't. Very sloppy do not recommend.

Oakridge Tailors
Oakridge Tailors - South Cambie - Vancouver, BC (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/oakridge-tailors-vancouver)
Hands down the best tailor I've ever had. Price is higher, but you definitely get QUALITY. Jean hem will cost $12-14.
William and Joy are the owner/operators, they're awesome!
He pays attention to the details too. Say for nudies, there's a special stitch on the hem and most tailors miss that and just do a straight hem through.

Yeah, pair of jeans I left them were my R&R's and William Rast'.. My fault for bringing denim like that to Stitches. Lesson learned. Stitches was just a convenient location for me.
Stacks at the bottom? They must have kept the original hem and folded it up or something. How could they have done two different hem jobs though? lol
