Does anybody else listen to the rock opera, symphonic metal, power metal genres? I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Any other suggestions guys?

I like the heavier hitting beats, cleaner vocals and overall, a more symphonic feel.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I really like this! especially female vocals, thanks for introducing me to a new type of music.

There are some great power metal bands out there. Hammerfall, Iced Earth, Helloween, Primal Fear, 3 Inches of Blood (their new stuff), and Wolf.

^+1 LOL

Symphonic metal Lyrics are cheesier than Cheez Whiz.
And their arrangements sound like video game music.
Dragonforce's sales also skyrocketed since the release of Guitar Hero.. :fuckthatshit:

Lol anyways, as a songwriter/producer, I'm forced to appreciate all types of music.. which I do.
Especially in quality metal music, where some of them can harmonize their crazy shredding unbelievably on point. Metal guitarists always amaze the shit out of me.

Bumping this thread for all to see. After getting hooked on the symphonic metal track on an album recently, I am craving for more, really bad. Listening to that Nightwish Phantom cover.. maybe it's my overall mental state lately but it damn near brought tears to my eyes. Powerful!

Oh and here's the track that got me hooked

Interesting... for some reason all that vocoder makes me think of ELO

Interesting... for some reason all that vocoder makes me think of ELO

It actually puts me in mind of Queen's A Night At The Opera album, oddly enough.

There's a vocoder in the one I posted? Didn't notice...

Unless you are referring to the harmony effect?

First two vocal lines, soon as the thing starts, sounds like old-school ELO-style vocoder.
