Tell Me Why I Shouldn't Buy This STi & Maybe I'll reconsider...

New STi's look like trash so not going that route (no pun intended)
New Evo's look just as garbage but can't deny their power/performance
Was browsing Craigslist and saw this sick STi and gonna take a look at it.
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rch/cto/2624283904.html
If everything checks out with my mechanic I'm gonna put in a strong offer
But before I go take a look just want to know if revscener has the 411 on the car. Maybe hidden secrets about the car or prior owners. Just don't want a LEMON or car that abused to shit.
1st mod if I buy the car will be matte black wrap at SR. Anyone know how much wrapping goes for?

guy at SR told me their wrap job can cost from $3000-$11,000. The SLR they did was about $11k due to all the the different angles and panels

Buying a car fully modded like that, you better be tech savy or know a good mech/tuner.
Sti's are great. Have one myself. Let me tell u, theyre more iffy about the little things compared to Honda's.
Have you ever driven a car with close to 400whp?

What's the big deal if its modified?
If the owner put $110k and all that time into his car I fucking bet it was taken care of really well. Even better than a bone stock car.
Also yeah it was probably driven hard, but it has all the supporting mods to handle the power, so the engine is putting that power out safely.

umm vinyl is not a mod.

My $0.02 is that unless you are expert in upkeeping a highly modded car.. better stay away from rides like this.
All the aftermarket parts can be mint and working, but how they work together is another thing.
A stock GD STi with cool body kit and carbon bits is probably a safer bit .... ;)

Plus this is literally a built track car, so if you just plan on trying to look cool in it with some flat black vinyl stay away.

from ad.
The car also equip with sti limited edition leather interior and heated seats . It is a multipurpose car car be track or can also be daily drive. Where else can you find a car you can go to snowboard winter time and long distance trip like I used this as my family car.
didnt know track cars have leather heated seats.....the guy used his car to haul his family around and who the fuck are you to tell him what he can and what he cant do to the car.

I mod the crap out of everything I own.
My computer looks like a beast, but it's at stock clocks.
My scooter has half again of it's value added on in performance parts. But I neither take it to the track nor do I drive like a twat in the city. I just like how they feel for my daily driving.
If nothing anything else, it means the owner has given the car a lot of attention.
This guy is more likely to take his car in for it's regularly scheduled maintenance than some honger with a bone stock STI. He would also be the type to baby it with premium fuel and lubes and as you have seen, replacement parts.

lol you can drive your computer can you?
with a car like that, its gotta be maintained properly... lol just because he uses premium gas doesnt mean anything about how the guy drives the car.. unless OP gets all the paperwork of all the service history, and i do mean ALL as well as the documents of the parts that is actually installed, otherwise i wouldnt buy it..
$30k for a car that does 380hp at the wheels WITH meth injection...:speechless:
It is a USDM car? owner says 40k miles. which is roughly 64K km
this is funny
Pls no tire kicker if you like I will do the test drive.
if theres is something wrong with it, he will try to avoid it...

380whp on an AWD car is nothing to scoff at when you consider parasitic loss through the drive train, and the meth injection is perfectly appropriate for the build.

Not sure why that's funny, it's a common clause included in sale ads for modified cars. If I were selling a heavily modified car with an aggressive suspension and a modified turbo engine, I wouldn't trust it in the hands of a driver who I know nothing about.

Few suspicious things:
Its a US car (its a pet peeve of mine)
Doesnt mention what turbo is used to push 380WHP (could be stock turbo, which means 23psi is really pushing the limits of the turbo despite him claiming running a low boost tune)
Engine's been swapped from the USDM 2.5L block to a JDM 2.0L block (i dont know why he would do that but most likely he blew his first engine, why settle for a JDM 2.0L block i dont understand)
The car DOES have all the handling and stopping goodies to it, its just the engine mods thats kind of iffy.
These r all my speculations based on what i have read on the CL ad, only the seller knows whats up
ps: that cars been on CL for over a year i believe, price dropped many times too

well, why doesnt the owner make it clear right off the bat, DEPOSIT require for test drive (XXXX amount), if you fuck something up, you loose the deposit... why would i buy a used car without personally test driving it.. heck even a new car people would want to test drive, not just sit in the passenger seat. If the buyer is not serious enough to put at least a couple thousand deposit, then it not worth the sellers time...

LOL....so I had a look at the Engine Mod list....
everything on that list is a bolt-on....
guy took out the original motor, tossed in a (likely used) JDM motor, dumped on a tonne of bolt ons and chassis braced it out the wazoo and cranked the stock turbo and bottom end to 380 AWHP? for $110,000?
I don't know what's compatible across the two motors but I'm guessing he used a bunch of those parts to blow up the stock motor before putting them on this one?

and u got to remember, out of that $110K, half of it went to cosmetic, handling and braking

Seriously?

lol value of the mods are often inflated to the max anyway whenever a buyer tries to sell the car. For instance, the guy can just buy used volk for 2k then says he bought new for 3k. Unless he can provide receipt of every single mod he bought that added up to 110k, it's just bunch of bs.
Plus, as Great68 mentioned above, dumping $110K into a Subaru :seriously:

with $110,000, I'll buy a c63 and it will stomp that subaru anyday of the week in style and proformance, with an assload of money left over to put a down payment on a condo.

Going to do a VIN check tomorrow
Anyone know the previous owner or history of the car?
Former NASIOC member?
Been approved for car loan at the bank so if everything checks out ok this car should be mine. For sure I will post pictures right away!
I will probably want to do some sick photoshoots. Any photographers offering their services would be sweet

Srsly though, the jdm motor and bolt ons are nice, and for the money it's not a bad car at all. BUT..... You best know what the hell you're doing around tuned Subarus if you're in the market for one as modified as that one is. It has good parts. It needs someone who can appreciate it.

I talked to the owner and I e-mailed him several times and believe me, he knows his shit. Not necessisarily need the extra HP but will come in good use for tracking in Mission. Thinking about lowering the boost for daily driving
Remember I can always part out the car too and make profit by parting individual parts on NASIOC or here. There is certainly value in this car since the owner invested so much into it. Economy is bad and I don't blame him so deals can be found if you look around hard enough
The owner wants deposit but I told him I want to take the car to my friends mechanic shop first. Wanna test for leaks mainly gasket seals etc..
Friend found this beauty: 1995 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo (http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/cto/2639371155.html) Holy Shit Cakes!!!
DECISIONS DECISIONS... Supra and GTR R34 have always been my dream cars, funny enough. Don't get me wrong I like STi's but 2JZ-GTE's is my favorite engine. So tempted to pull the trigger on the Supra TT
