should I buy touchpad 32gb $250 or playbook 16gb for 299

they are both pretty much dead end device. maybe android is possible on touch pad.
I hear touchpad has better apps.

my main use: internet, email, movies in bed or car or plane.

playbook is more portable, but less Hard drive storage..

touchpad is heavy, but it won't be more than a netbook.

Which one is faster and smoother to operate?

any thoughts? I can't decide. Obviously due to budget otherwise, I like galaxy 8.9 or 10.1 or even iPad 2

Lenovo Ideapad A1. It's currently being blown out at Lenovo US for $199. Just gotta wait and see if it'll be offered here in Canada. Unless you have connections in the states or wanna use a package holding service in blaine.

With those activities in mind, I prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio of the TouchPad over the widescreens. I find it much better for browsing the web on a tablet and also working with email.

*note* I own both a HP TouchPad (4:3) as well as an Asus Transformer (widescreen).

If that's all you're doing, you could get a color nook and install a better install of android. Its probably going to run you the same, and you have access to the Android market.

The audio on the Nook is soso. I had a slight hissing noise through the head phones. But other than that the IPS screen is great.

Checked out the Lenovo last week, it's thick and very China (the design like those Apad or Haipad or Opad out there)

I've been in the market for a tablet myself and I'm very close to buying a Playbook. I've taken a look at the Android ones and honestly, the build quality doesn't come close to the Playbook. Since I do travel every once in a while for work, I just want something to browse the internet with while I'm waiting to board planes. The Playbook OS is very good and the screen is excellent. If you have limited needs like me, I think the Playbook would be a good choice.

You know playbook is made by Quanta. Standard taiwanese manufacturer that makes the playbook, kindle fire, and other android tablets. I'm not sure what Android ones you're looking at but the ones I've played with and own have great build quality.

Acer, Motorola, and Sony.

The Asus Transformer is a nice machine though, and so is the Samsung.

Odd. Not sure what you don't like about the build quality on the Motorola. It's built like a tank with it's aluminum and gorilla glass.

i am going to have a look at the lenovo A1. Price seems to fit budget. Playbook is not bad after a quick handon at a friend's unit, but I was told there is no email function?...

And I thought touchpad, playbook, nook color are all IPS panels

No. I'd rather get the HTC Flyer for 299 at US bestbuy because Honeycomb update is coming soon for it.

^ Why? The iPad 2 is excellent. I just told my TP and got one. Best move ever. I started getting real tired of the TP.

have you seen the device in person?

I love the look of the playbook! It looks sleek and professional. And the build quality is one of the best out there... (imo, the build quality is better than ipad2)

Too bad there are so little support and the software kinda sucks....

Also...I found 7" screen too small if you are using it mostly at home and not carrying it around much

I don't think any non unibody design will have better build quality than a unibody design. Sleek and professional? It's just a rectangular slab.

What's nice about the 7" form factor is that you can comfortably hold the device in your hands and type with your thumbs. A 10" is a little too big for that.

I bought a Playbook yesterday. Once you get the swiping down, it's a pretty fluid experience. Ultimately, it's a pretty limited device, but if you do have a newer Blackberry, it's worth a look.

since playbook dropped to $199 for 16gb one, is it a better pick up than 32gb HP touchpad?

which one is better value?

will playbook be getting a email app?

which is a better PDF/ebook reader, browser, movie/porn player for plane rides?

which one has longer future support for updates, and hacker/homebrew software fixes
