| Dynex TV's
Looking for a new bedroom TV. Cheap 46 inch at futureshop right now, debating between a dynex and a 40 inch LG which are both the same price. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Dynex TV's? What's the quality like?

^ Don't bother with Dynex TV's, unless it's a beater 21".
Great prices, but they don't tend to last very long.

if you can get brand name for the same price it just seems like a no brainer
if you dont mind waiting a few days you could always sign up at staples as one of the member thingee and get a $100 off TV coupon...their selection is very very limited though

Most likely the Dynex will have better specs than the LG. I've had a Dynex 40" 1080p LCD in the past and it is just as good, if not better than the LG 42" that I replaced it with.

Ya the LG is only 720p while also being 6" smaller.

It's all about luck with cheap TVs.
we have a pair of 40" Skyworth LCD TVs at work for lobby display (use it 18hrs a day), price was around 2/3 of the low end 32" Samsungs. All of us expected the screens will go fuck up after a year, so we can buy new LED TVs, but both have been like new after 4 or something years.
Of course, for personal use, I will not pay a dime for it.

my wife's uncle has what i think is a 30" dynex that his kids use for their gaming on the wii. seems pretty solid, they'd had it for like 5 years.

Dynex is a house brand of BestBuy.
You can find Vizios at Costco.

My Dynex worked great till the day I sold it (had it for 3 years). I've heard good reviews about Vizio too as a bargain brand. IMO, if the Dynex is 1080p and the LG is 720p, go for the Dynex.

I use Vizio for my computer monitor. Working great. I wouldn't buy a Dynex though.

These are just rebranded old sony's, samsungs
when you guys say work good, you will start to realize how shitty your monitor is when you discover input lag and how annoying it is.

I have the Dynex 40" 1080p LCD. Had it for over 1.5 years. Still going strong! With the right calibration settings, it'll look pretty good.
There has been rumours that Dynex uses LG panels.

If I'm not mistaken, all the parts are from China anyhow, and are assembled in Mexico. So it all comes down to the quality of the LCD panel itself, and the quality of the assembly. Of course, brands have better frame designs, but if it isn't for anything special I'd say go with the Dynex. They're relatively cheaper and it wouldn't be so painful to replace them.
If you're getting it from BestBuy/Futureshop and decide on the Dynex, consider their performance service plan. If it DOES break down in the statement time period, you can get yourself a new TV. |
