So the opposite of Japan? I hate region-anything, but to me, that makese more sense than hoarding all the good stuff while sending crap elsewhere.
Countries export their goods elsewhere to get top dollar for it

Basic Gist:
Those that didnt see or read his blog.
His Genesis started to drop RPM and engine starting dying. Hyundai asked him to prove it in which he did with his video blackbox but they refused to acknowledge it as a problem and blamed him as an inexperienced driver.
He then demonstrate/protest at Seoul Motor Show where he was promised a replacement car. Later on Hyundai took back their word and asked him to pay for the exchange.
So he then went to Shanghai Motor Show and demo/protested there, where hyundai finally offered him new car. He got the car and turns out that car was also a lemon. Also suspected that it was a fixed up car made to look like new.
Obviously Hyundai denies all the claims and such.
Tl;Dr: Guy gets lemon Gensis replaced with another lemon suspected of being it a 'fixed up' used car and is refused any warranty work, problems acknowledged.
FYI: In - Korea bought Hyundais dont have nearly as good warranty coverage as overseas.
he was a used car salesman so he knows some stuff about cars too.
So the opposite of Japan? I hate region-anything, but to me, that makese more sense than hoarding all the good stuff while sending crap elsewhere.

I think it's our governments preventing the awesome cars from showing up here. Something about protecting our car manufacturers.
That's what it used to be way back in my days. Probably more to do with not wanting to convert to left hand, or meeting weird NA standards.
In Canada, we get the shitty stuff locally and import the good stuff everywhere else.

Openroad Hyundai sold me genesis with cracked windshield that was patched up, already had 800km on it (according to KT new cars are supposed to have less then 50km) and didn't give me iPod cable that was supposed to come with it :(

The same applies to any products, be it phones, televisions, food, etc. built or manufactured by a Korean conglomerate and sold within their domestic market.

Dealerships sell demo (executive driven) cars as new cars. I think it's fckin BS.

But, the buyer surely know's it is used. They just have to look at the km's on it. A new car shouldn't have more than 10km. And even at 10km that is a lot isn't it?

it wasn't sold as a new car though. it also had a CF hood, trunk, exhaust and cold air intake on it
the window and the ipod cable, however..:suspicious:
MeowMeow
10-13-2011, 04:31 PM
It was claimed new. They told me cf hood and stuff was "extra accessories they added on".
I assumed it was new, with shit on it. Not a demo car because they didn't state it was demo car.
They also offered me a red one (and said I can have the extra shit too).
Anyways I got my dad to go pick it up so he obviously didnt really check cuz he's an idiot like that. AND I was car noob back then (and still is)

It is BS. They didn't even tell me it was demo car (well obviously they're not going to) and being a car noob I didn't even know demo car existed back then. PLUS they claimed it was new like I posted above.

They didn't "create" anything. They just took original concepts and put the letter "K" in front of it.
You're giving them way too much credit.
Also, video was weak. A golf club and several kicks and that's all he managed to do? :lol

the word "k-pop" was probably created by foreigners.
also
Canada created Justin Bieber. Sigh.
SkinnyPupp

Whatever you want to call it. There is nothing more annoying than girls dressing up in "cute" uniforms (usually versions of ones that men wear) and act like little girls. Maybe that appeals to a certain type of person, but I find it to be excruciatingly annoying, and more than a little creepy.
If Justin Bieber is a 10 on an annoying scale of 1-10, Korean pop would be a 900

So what your saying is...a Hyundai is still a Hyundai in Korea.
How does the general population even know Hyundai's are reasonably reliable cars elsewhere these days? I guess that's the power of the internet.

IMO/IME the cars arent ALL bad. like with any brand there are deemed to be cars with problems however the warranty/after service just suck balls.
Culture_Vulture
10-14-2011, 03:43 AM
the warranties don't define the overall performance of the car's integrity.
5-10 years ago people would never even consider a Korean car because you could buy a Japanese one for not much more and still be driving it 5-10 years down the road. But as of late, we are genuinely seeing (at least, in North America) better quality vehicles, albeit paired with very, VERY aggressive marketing from Korean auto companies.
Will they live up to the new brand image/integrity that they've created for themselves? Guess we'll see 5-10 more years down the road.
