Didn't expect him to be Elias! Thought he was just an innocent bystander all along. I guess when the son said "he was meeting with D'Agostini" kind of gave it away but I didn't think too much of it

It seemed almost weird watching Finch interact with someone that (I assume) is a friend. The way the writers were building him up it was like he was basically one of those stereotypical rich hermits without any real human relationships.

That said, I'm sure that's still probably going to be true. As a prediction, I'm going to say that he once had a family that was killed by a random crime, leading him to build the machine. It's probably where he got his limp and back issue as well.

But that aside, I still look forward to it every week! Enrico Colantoni sure gets around, too... funny, but after all the years of seeing him in comedy roles (Just Shoot Me, Galaxy Quest, etc.) it was hard to get used to him as a serious good guy (Flashpoint), but somehow he fits the "nerdy, unassuming criminal mastermind" role REALLY WELL.

Exactly! Of course, they take some liberties with what the CCTV systems can do, and working with CCTV these things SHOULD grate on me... nice thing is though, they don't RELY on it the way they do in so many crime shows (cue the classic CSI "zoom in" strip). It's an underlying tool of the stories, but not THE CENTRAL tool, which makes it a lot easier to just ignore the artistic license.

Finally got around to watching the first three episodes of season two. While I was a little disappointed Finch was rescued so quickly, it's just a small quibble. The writing and acting is just as good, and I love some of the "action" scenes (the simple bam-bam-through-the-window cowboy-esque shot). As odd as it is to say something like this, especially about an animal, Bear is a great addition.

Gotta say, though. I'm a little confused about Snow. Did I miss something at the end of season 1?

Just burned through season two and finally caught up on season three. Season two was freakin' awesome and season three seems to be off to a good start, albeit at a slightly slower pace.

Gotta say that one of the things I love about this show is that it doesn't give you the entire back story all in one sitting. It feeds you tiny snippets every few episodes and keeps you drawn in. The writing in the first season is what drew me in and I'm glad to see that it's still top notch, for the most part. There have been a couple episodes where Finch and Jon were doing things that kinda made me go, "Huh?" but I can easily overlook those scenes as the rest have been fantastic.

I'll admit, though, Root creeps me out as well. :lol

Honestly this show is one of the best shows on TV right now. It's very intense and the plots are always amazing. I love how they bring back old characters without making it seem outdated, such as Elias.

Unfuckingreal, tonight's ep. Wow, just WOW.

The characters are what absolutely make this show... the little flashbacks into all their lives were fantastic. Root may be the creepiest, scariest TV character ever, and Elias ranks right up there for greatest criminal mastermind on the small OR big screen. And Fusco was really starting to get annoying until tonight... suddenly I really like him too.

So... this was the "winter finale" or whateverthefuck... WHEN DOES IT COME BACK?! I WANT MOOOOAAAARRRR.

All the hints have been pointing to this sort of show down for the whole season, anyway. Actually even last season started getting into it, with the introduction of Root and her integration with the machine. The first two and a half seasons were largely about organized crime syndicates, thus it stands to reason that any decent writers worth their salt would want to change things up so it doesn't become stagnant.

Did anyone else hear that they played a 15 khz tone when Root was talking about it? Some people can't hear it at all, some lose the ability when they get old (which is what she was referring to). I can hear it, and that scene drove me crazy! I also hear it from cheap/old TV's all the time.

Yeah, that was the only bit in the episode that annoyed me. Maybe something in that drug that Dillinger gave him numbed the pain enough?

Apart from that, I thought it was a great episode. I like how they're slowly linking everything together. Sure, some of it may seem a little coincidental, but it's still pretty damn good.

BTW, anyone notice that the title sequence harked back to season one? :toot:

My worry now is that once the Samaritan arc is dealt with, they'll fuck it all up trying to top it... that, or they'll drag it out too long.

Personally, I think it's about time for the Samaritan thing to slip to the background for a bit and get back to what Elias is up to. Gotta mix it up a bit now and then!

Nah. The only way I can see Elias being tied into the Samaritan story arc is if the team convinced him he'd be better off serving "good" for a while in order to help take down Vigilance or Decima. I think this season will end on a cliffhanger of Samaritan coming online and targeting Finch, John, Shaw, and Root. From there, it'll be a mid-next season story arc ending, in which Elias will return as the antagonist.

I wont lie, though... I kinda want to see Elias team up with the crew. I like his character too much to see him end as the "bad" guy.
