: When Life Imitates Art Imitating Life: The Scott Hall Story

ESPN E60 is a wonderful show documenting powerful stories from around the sports world

such stories involve OJ Simpson, Michael Jordan to Vancouver's own Green Men

I've been a wrestling fan for a long time. It's sad to see this happen to such a storied career for Hall, but this is life. Whatever went wrong in between, he's dealing with it. What the intro said is true, his story is almost like the movie "The Wrestler"

i'm surprised scott hall isn't dead yet. he's been battling alcoholism and drugs for awhile now hasn't he? i remember watching a lot of videos before on youtube with kevin nash, x-pac and a few other of his old friends trying to get his life straightened out

"The Wrestler" was based on the life of Lex Luger apparently.

Great short doc.
I watched Razor when he first entered the WWF...his ladder matches with Shawn Michaels were classics.

That's pretty sad. Going from being a superstar to nothing but everyone in the wrestling business has access to the same things. It's up to the person to make the decision to go that route or take another one. He was definitely one of my favorite wrestlers of the time. The original NWO with hollywood, hall, and nash was the best thing in wrestling imo.

his legacy is tarnished in my books
Same for the likes of Flair, Hogan, Kevin Nash

Kevin Nash was scheduled to a match with CM PUNK in september, but he didnt pass his physicals. When he was in the ring, he looked slow, and out of touch with the program(albeit, this CM PUNK guy is genius on the mic..)

Flair and Hogan are just so bloody fucking old they should just step out of the ring.

Ric Flair has battled the same demons that Scott Hall did, although not to that degree

Hogan, well... I honestly think the public eye on him and his family got to him. Though him and Kevin Nash are probably the most healthy ones out of the 4 guys i mentioned

Go google clips from this past weekend from the TNA ppv, Hogan vs Sting.. was garbage

I thought Flair was going to retire back when they had him on WWE, then seeing him on TNA, it is such a joke.
I understand the marketing aspect and why WWE and TNA would bring back these old timers, but at the same time all the years of being a wrestler has done havoc on most of them.
I loved Brett Hart, but seeing him on WWE now is a joke. Same thing with Hogan. They are much slower than before and because of it, just like Hall in that video, make wrestling look faker than ever.

I started watching wrestiling back in the early 80's, when it was still Maple Leaf Wrestling, Stampede Wrestling and the AMA. The '90's were definately the best years. I remember every time we'd go to Calgary I'd beg my parents to drive past the Hart house with all the rusty old rings outside. Now it's not even worth it to watch.

Beyond The Mat is another good watch for those interested in what goes on in the wrestling business - both with up and comers and has-beens.

Well that didn't last long

WRESTLING LEGEND SCOTT HALL
Tragic Twist After
Documentary's Happy Ending

WWE legend Scott Hall's emotional reunion with his estranged son at the end of ESPN's documentary about the wrestler was short-lived -- sources tell TMZ, Scott's drug problems have once again forced the two apart.

In case you missed it, ESPN aired a heartfelt documentary about Scott Hall last night -- chronicling the wrestler's drug-fueled fall from grace -- in which Scott and his son Cody poignantly reunited after not speaking for years.

The documentary ended on a promising note (below) -- with the father-son duo working together to launch Cody's wrestling career.

But Scott's ex-wife Dana tells TMZ, the reunion in May barely lasted a month -- and once again, the two are no longer on speaking terms.

We're told Cody gave up on his dad due to "constant verbal abuse from Scott while he was binging" -- and he soon moved back home with his mom.

Dana tells us, Cody simply felt it was "too hard seeing his dad in that kind of state." We're told Cody has no current plans to continue wrestling. Scott's rep had no comment.

WWE is about to get better in the build for Rock's return at Survivor Series. Mick Foley is coming back too.. Both these guys are immune to the HORRENDOUS SHITTY writing and Vince McMahon's stupid ideas, so any shows built around them should be good.

The Rock is still in great shape and didn't abuse his body to be entertaining to watch. Mick Foley on the other hand is too over weight and really not that great of a wrestler to begin with. Just like bringing back Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Brett Hart. They are has been's and really have no reason to make any appearance fighting on WWE.

I dunno abut that but he's in still wrestling after his "retirement" because he got married and divorced too many times - those support payments are costly.

The Rock is 39. Still in great shape, didnt have too many injuries in his short WWE career. The guy is a true talent. Even if he doesn't wrestle in a match, just by having him speak and do the peoples elbow is enough to ELECTRIFY the crowd.

I have to be honest, I haven't heard a RAW crowd as loud as that one night the rock made his first appearance on TV this year.

Mick Foley hasn't wrestled in years, and I don't think he plans to. I speculate a team rocky vs team foley for Survivor series.

who knows VinceMcMahon has dumb ideas as u said. The whole HHH/CMpunk thing was terrible. It had so much potential to be great.

I follow wrestling pretty closely, despite hardly watching it anymore. Vince has a few problems, the first being completely out of touch with culture. Second, he changes his mind literally every hour. Third, he uses the show just to amuse himself, even if it means shitty tv.

I watch too, but mostly it's just background noise. Most matches are too short to be good, and most angles are horribly written, and have no direction since everything gets changed by the hour. Mark Henry is the only good thing on WWE lately.

I stopped watching wrestling around 2002/2003 and actually started to despise it. I didn't like how they emphasized girls and sex and shit so much. I'm fine with having woman in it and part of the storylines and looking all slutty and shit but sometimes I felt they go a little too far. I'm, not gay but I like to watch wrestling for wrestling like I watch hockey for hockey. If I wanna see girls I'll watch porn or go find some. Just the art of wrestling itself intrigues me.

But about the documentary, it was really hard to watch seeing Scott Hall all drugged up and actually trying to fight in a match. Can you imagine how awkward that must have been for the fans? It must have been pretty insulting for the wrestler he was fighting. Pretending to get his ass kicked by a slow, old, drugged up wrestler.

The promoter should be ashamed.

SkinnyPupp
10-22-2011, 04:22 AM
Yeah lots of backlash went to that promoter, but keep in mind that Scott Hall is NOT the exception. Promoters are CONSTANTLY being screwed by these old wrestlers, who show up, and either cannot perform or hold out for more money. Many of them book several shows at once, with no intention of showing up whatsoever.

that's sad to see some promotion allow him to do that. must be really bottom of the barrel organization...unless it's part of the story-line?
