We've reviewed and heard many of your questioning on how SOLID NYE 2012 was moved from BC Place to the Pacific Coliseum. Solid Events Ltd. had never officially announced the event happening at the venue via online, websites, print, or advertised on the new years eve event being at BC Place. However, we did explore all of our options and BC Place was one of the many. The logistic of the venue did not work out for new years eve as the building is operated by an union staffing. The staffing had the right to walk out, strike or call in sick a day prior to the event.

Similar situation with the news article with the Grey Cup game below: (However, we do not believe we'd have the committee backing us like this)

Have you ever been to EDC? Honest question. I don't even know how you can compare the two events, but since you're so hellbent on doing so -

You really think EDC costs $200 or whatever (it's actually around $350ish but who's counting)? Flight? Hotel (even the shithole Flamingo is booking rooms at $500/night that weekend)? Transportation ($50 cab ride there and good luck getting a cab back after the event - I paid close to $100 to hop in a limo after last year's event). Food? Drinks? After all's said and done, you're talking about a couple thousand EASY. My whole trip last year was comp'd (flight, hotel, VIP passes.. everything) and I still managed to spend well over $1,000.

Another thing about EDC - yes there's like 1,000 DJ's performing but are you gonna see every single one? Not even close. I think last year we just stuck around at the Kinetic Field and saw Benassi, Guetta, and Above and Beyond. Before we knew it, the sun was coming up and the show was over.

Honestly speaking, shows like EDC are sensory overload. Yes, they are a blast, but when there's so much to do at 1 venue, unless you focus on only doing a couple of things you're going to be spreading yourself pretty thin and it's hard to really get into the show when you're running around like madman.

Anyway, my 2 cents. Just drop the 2 bills on Tiesto, go, have the time of your life, and not worry about it. After all, it's just money and I'm sure you spend your cash on stupider stuff.

Just bought our tickets of CL.
I made sure they were hard copy and I even copied the guys drivers license down. he was totally cool with it and he said he had nothing to hide.

so i`m pretty excited.
I paid $135. Even though after I probably could have got them for $120-130.
Oh well.

My friends and I are super excited, especially since Avicii was so incredible!
I can`t wait!

Technically, I didn't break the rules. Considering I didn't sell anything.
Rules say, "Any sale of tickets are prohibited". You do not mention anything about the purchasing of tickets.

It's a loop hole in the same way that using marijuana is illegal, but stores can legally sell products like bongs, paper, etc.

And since in PM you claim you've been giving out points to "ALL" clearly that means a lot of people do not know of this rule. Maybe a friendly warning may be appropriate next time? Like in other threads other mods just post a friendly reminder in the thread, since a lot of members forget or do not know the rules.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police want people heading to the New Year's Eve PNE Dance Party to be aware of a heightened chance of gang violence.

Up to 6,000 are expected to pack the party at the Pacific Coliseum, which runs from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Const. Jana McGuinness with the VPD says extra cops will be on hand inside and outside the rink on Renfrew to keep the peace as Tiësto DJs the party.

"So when we receive information through our police channels that there is, maybe, rising tensions or something that could possibly occur, we're going to err on the side of caution and make sure people are at least aware that we're going to be increasing our presence."

The PNE's Laura Ballance says they have 120 security staff on hand and they will be searching bags.

"And that was part of our standard procedure that we put on as part of this event plan," she says.

Vancouver police also say dozens of extra officers will be on patrol in the rest of the city as revelers ring in 2012.

That includes along the Granville entertainment district and Gastown, two of the areas popular with partiers.

To help make things safer, two blocks of Granville Street will be turned into a pedestrian-only zone New Years Eve to accommodate the large crowds expected there.

The Vancouver Police Department received some intelligence about the possibility of gang violence outside the Tiesto concert at the Pacific Coliseum Saturday.

So there will be extra officers on duty to make sure that nothing happens.

What I had heard is that some targeted gangsters had tickets to the event and that some of their enemies had planned to wait outside to see if they could scout out their targets. That could prove dangerous to others in attendance as well as those under threat. But I am sure that after the VPD warning, those contemplating violence will rethink their plan.

There was a case back in 2004 when a gangster was gunned down after leaving a show at the same location.

The most packed I ever seen at the PNE, balcony was packed too both sides full of people dancing.

Thank god it was 19+ and it wasn't a gangster type of crowd I was expecting. Everyone was nicely spaced out, so easy to weave in and out of the crowd.

The overall experience was great compared to Avicii's night.....

Did anyone else feel the crowd was better at avicii. I felt at the coliseum the crowd was more "intense". It felt like they were more angry compared to avicii?
Or maybe at avicii we were just in a better spot.
