Got a ticket for the infraction of by-law 2849, section 17.1: stopping at a place where a traffic sign prohibits stopping

Ticket for $50.

However, the listed location of the infraction is no where close to where this happened--in fact it was on the other side of the city.

Is this disputable?

Try calling in. If you have proof like a store receipt or something, that will help your case. Ask the c/s rep on the phone to check the other tickets that the person wrote around that time.
Maybe give the location where you got the ticket here, see if anyone else here got a ticket that has a wrong location.
The new adjudication system is pretty brutal.
