Win or lose, Astro, Chris Renee, Drew, Rachel Crowe, and Stacy Francis will for sure get signed to some sort of deal, either at least 1 song, 1 album, or even a booking/touring deal.
I can see Lakoda Rayne having a career in the Country scene, and Intensity having a career in some Disney or kids thing.

But I liked all the underdogs. 2 out of my 3 favourites are gone :cry: I really liked Anser and Phillip Lomax. But now it's all about Leroy. :fullofwin:

But from this show the judges clearly are looking for someone who can record/sell records, and that doesnt necessarily mean the most talented person will win either.

Coming from someone who works in the music industry.. I decided to give a personal opinionated rundown of the contestants..

Best voices: Melanie, Josh, Leroy, Stacy, Rachel, Elona from Intensity
Most current/marketability: Astro, Lakoda Rayne, Drew

Melanie is hands down the best, cleanest, clearest voice on the show right now. I don't even think Nicole can sing as smooth her. Her bridges between her low, mid, and high ends are seamless. No strain or rasp whatsoever. Pretty damn perfect. BUT having said that, her voice really lacks personality and character. But hey, so did Leona Lewis' voice.

Josh and Leroy have really great voices as well. But like Melanie, these guys lack marketability and character. Though I don't think he's going to win, I think Leroy's my favourite :fullofwin:

Stacy's voice has more power and strength than Melanie's, but she strains a lot. And apparently there's some controversy about how she used to be a professional singer and her whole single abused mom story is just part of an act? Either way, I think she has a solid chance of winning this thing. Though I don't know how that would play out with her "false" story..

I'm sure we all know Astro will get picked up, win or lose. This kid can rap and has crazy flow, but at the same time, how much better would he be if you just gave him another couple years? Might be worth the wait for LA Reid.

Drew has the marketability and uniqueness that just might give her a big enough edge to carry her all the way to the end. Voice obviously not as strong as Melanie and Stacy. Kinda reminds me of a young Avril.

Intensity I can see getting picked up by Disney or something. Though the group is being carried by Elona, the black rapper kid, and the Bieber lookalike.

Lakoda Rayne I can see having some sort of career in the country scene. Tour with Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, play at the Country festivals, etc. I want to say they won't be around for long because their voices aren't the strongest, but I have an odd feeling they might be here for a while.

Rachel Crow can singggg, damn! For a 13 year old?! She has the little cutesy look. Maybe Disney will pick her up. Doubt she'll make it all the way.

Stereohoggz will be easily forgotten.. reminds me of JLS or Ahmir. Yeah, they can sing, dance.. But groups are out.. mostly bands and solo acts are the only ones that hit it big these days.

I really like Marcus, he can sing and dance at par, but he'll get swallowed up by the big male R&B names. Chris Brown, Bieber, Usher.. As much as I like this kid, I doubt he'll be worth the $5 mil prize.

I personally don't like Renee at all. Sub-par singing with sub-par raps. Not even close to being worth $5 mil. There's hundreds of artists much better than him that you can find on Youtube in less than 5 minutes. The only thing carrying him is the fact that he was in rehab.

In the end, I can see everyone in the top 12 having careers in music. I can think of a market for every single one.
If I HAD to predict a winner, with all things considered, I'd say.. either Melanie, Stacy, or Drew. Unexpected curveballs MIGHT be Josh, Lakoda Rayne, or Astro.

From his pre-performance clip, I just gained a new world of respect for Astro.
It takes a lot commitment to sacrifice and devote yourself to music, especially at his age. He's young, probably has all his friends playing video games and wanting to call him out all the time.

I work as a songwriter/producer, and I know how hard it is to get anywhere in this business. No one's going to help you, and you have to be super motivated to just get out there and do things on your own. Having said that, competitions like X-Factor are "short-cuts."
Every week I work with people who call themselves singer-songwriters when they have less than 10 songs in their name, and they've been playing for years. (Given that "real" songwriting goes into more intricacies like keys, chords, structures, melodies etc.. and rapping is just rhythmic talking over a catchy beat.) Regardless, if Astro can crank out lyrics like they say he's doing, this kid's going to make it one way or another.

He's EASILY the most marketable. He's got a kid voice but an adult flow. Kid has style and swag. His lyrics have emotion and intensity but they're clean and positive. The problem with clean rap today is that the lyrics were written with swearing originally and changing it ruins the original intent of the song but this kid writes it like that straight up. That's going to be HUGELY marketable to kids and this kid has enough talent to sell records to adults.

This is because he has LA Reid in his corner and he knows how to market an artist like no one on that stage because he is one of best in the business. Right there is the reason why he's going to take off and will probably win the show cause Reid is on a different level compaired to Paula and Simon and when Simon looked over and said I'm so annoyed right now is because he knows it as well.

Astro will get signed for sure.. and will be making way more than $5million with LA Reid.. But something tells me he won't be winning the whole competition.

If I was forced to put money on someone taking the whole thing, I'd honestly bet on Drew. (A little technical here.. if there's any musicians/singers in the house..) Her falsetto and head voice are so different and so distinct.. When most singers sing high, they all sound very similar in tone. But Drew has a certain distinction and uniqueness to her voice that's very commercially marketable. I can hear her singing an intense chorus for Eminem, Bruno Mars, Bieber, or hell, even Astro when he gets signed. Simon is doing one hell of a job with her. All her song choices have been pretty much on point.

Aside from Drew, my favourites are Leroy and Melanie.. But I doubt Leroy will make it much further.. and I have no idea what's going to happen with Melanie - I think she has a decent shot at winning as well, but she really lacks character... But again, so did Leona Lewis.

In the end.. You never know who's voting for who down there..

Real hip-hop can still be found today you just have to not listen to a lot of the garbage played at top 40 radio. I love it when middle age white men who smokes way to much weed and teaches a bunch of elementary school kids in the boonies tell me that hip hop is dead. I guess rock and roll is dead too. The thing is, you have to remember who is voting....middle-american bible-belt type republican people. The people that are voting are looking for the all-american disney-type WHITE singer/star. These people don't listen to rap and/or hip-hip and they certainly don't want their kids listening to it.

Regarding Chris, the show ultimately is a competition to find yes, a recording artist. I know first hand about being a singer and a recording artist. I work with these people every week at the studio. You do need more than talent to win this show. But really, Renee barely has the talent side. He has a story of his rough past, and a sub-par song he wrote. Not even close to being worth 5 mil. Throw some light autotune on his singing, and there you have it. Another mediocre half-rapper-half-singer. He really did not have one good week since his audition. He can't keep singing that one song over and over. I'm pretty sure he pissed off a lot of true Beatles fans last night by trying to sing that song. If he somehow manages to make it though tonight, I'm really curious about what song they're gonna have him do next week.

I'm not a huge rap or Astro fan, but I have worked with many rappers in the studio. If you can see how many mediocre rappers there are out there (even check Youtube, or hell, even many signed rappers)..Astro just blows them out of the water. This kid understands flow and rhythm changes very well, if that is actually him writing.
LA Reid just sees him as another young kid that he can sign and make millions off of. He only signs artists who he thinks will have a long career.

Maybe not Brewer Boys.. Those two always looked so bored and unenthusiastic about everything. A quick search on youtube can find you a better duo.

I still can't believe Anser didn't make it through. Their look and sound were easily the most unique. Especially the guy with the red glasses' voice. (My god. Little technical snippet here for any singers in the house or just curious Georges..)Not that it really matters.. but this just really impressed me. All singers have about 3 notes in their range that are always very weak. Different for males and females. It's between the high and low register called mix notes. Even singers with crazy ranges always try to avoid these notes because they're never sure whether to sing it high or low- you're supposed to balance it half and half. Not easy. If you're the slightest unbalanced, your voice will crack. Even the strongest singers like Usher or Adam Lambert will avoid these notes. If songwriters write them a melody with these notes, they'd rather have the melodies changed than try and sing these notes. But this dude from the Anser at 2:37 just punches that note square in the nuts and kills it! Try and hit that note. It'll feel really awkward and weak.
These guys should've gotten in instead of Intensity or Stereohoggz.

On AI, she seemed to be a bit of an airhead and never really gave constructive criticism. It was like she was there just for a laugh.

Chris Rene is not bad, but you can find someone just like him at any coffee shop open mike night..not a world class talent in my mind.

Rachel..she is cute as a button and a very good entertainer for her age, but they way she broke down on stage shows that she is not deserving of the contract..she's just a kid, not a professional. Give her a few years to grow up and Im sure she will have a great career.

Young Homie on youtube has over 10 million hits, and his original material is starting to be talked about more and more. He will sell records, L.A. Reid knows that, and alot of people notice a little favoritism that he has with Chris.

If this was American Idol then I can see why Melanie or Josh deserves to win. But on X-factor where its not only about the voice, Chris has my vote.

I was also pretty disappointed with Josh's songs last night....he sung them well, but I wanted something big for his final song. I fault Nicole for this....I think she digs the ballads and slow songs better.

Other than that, I thought everyone did "ok". No surprise with Melanie and though Chris' second song was good, I think his first was terrible!. His second song also sounded way too much like his "where do we go from here" song he did a couple weeks ago...

Meh...still hope Josh wins, but he won't.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed last night.

I wish the did the celeb thing tonight, after everyone had voted as I don't think we really got to see the potential of the singers.

pretty obvious Melanie was going to win once we found out Chris was 3rd.
I found it weird that she had to sing another song minutes after she won.
That was strange and bad timing obviously because she couldn't even sing.

Wow, Rene is 3rd? Surprising. Thought he'd be second as the people that vote for talent split between Melanie and Josh.

She'll go nowhere. Great voice, don't get me wrong, but yippie! There is just nothing that excites me.

The more I watched, maybe chris would have been a btter choice. Weaker singing, but more to the story. At least he'd sing from the heart.
