COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) - Police have confirmed a woman is dead after some sort of incident on the Port Mann Bridge.

Rudy says there is a body covered with a tarp on the pavement in front of semi. "It seems to be a pedestrian. It's a few metres from the edge of the bridge, into the road."

The bridge is now closed to eastbound traffic. The closure is expected to remain in effect for most of the afternoon. There are delays westbound after a fender-bender on the bridge as well.

From what I was told, a woman's car broke down and for some reason she got out to check on her car and was hit by a semi

I saw five cars and a semi pulled over to the side of the road at the foot of the Port Mann around 12:30. I was heading back into Surrey via the Lougheed onramp, when I let by an ambulance because of the one-lane on-ramp. Coming round the loop, I saw the cars and people on the side of the road, but the barriers were blocking the ground there.

co-worker drove by there maybe 20 minutes before it happened and I thought it was just a suicide case. RIP, the construction in that area has made it a frightening place to drive. Another co-worker evidently got stuck in surrey because of the influx of traffic on the pattula and the port mann westbound. This city has such shit infrastructure.

saw her car on the news just now from where she was parked it looks like there was no room for her to exit the car without getting out in the next lane -_-

I haven't seen New West that backed up in a long time. All down Royal, up 8th and then down side streets to get onto 8th. It was crazy.

Thankfully even though the building I was working at is right down by Patullo, home is in the opposite direction-because there is nothing worse than getting stuck in bridge traffic for a bridge you don't want to take.

I went the Lougheed Hwy route via the Mission Bridge. Never seen the Lougheed that plugged up in the Coquitlam/Maple Ridge area. Lots of tolls collected on the Golden Ears, I bet.

I did have a good time yesterday. Checked out the new Wal Mart and Canadian Tire in whatever new mall they have in Maple Ridge.

This city has such shit infrastructure.
And yet when they try to fix it, everyone bitches about the cost and the construction and the eco-weenies start setting their hair on fire...

I left downtown at 2, flew along Hastings and Barnet all the way to just before Coq. Station, then it was a dead crawl all the way home to Pitt Meadows :speechless:

That's PoCo. You have to cross the Pitt Bridge and go through Pitt Meadows before you get to Maple Ridge. :failed:

Like every other Canadian Tire on this planet. It is big, but that's about it. I was more impressed with the Wal Mart. Holy shit, it's fricken huge. Timmy's, McD's, walk in clinic, etc.

Who cares.......... it's all one big blur, LOLOLOLOLOL.

I do know that people in Coquitlam hate it when people get mixed up between their wonderful municipality and Port Coquitlam....... who really cares?

That whole area is going to get clusterfucked when it comes time to Christmas shopping.

.............and so do the good people of Port Coquitlam, I guess.

So, Mudoc, you're from Surrey, right? Do you get pissed off when people make fun of Surrey and you live in Fleetwood or some other part of Surrey that is upper crust? There are some really nice neighbourhoods in Surrey, but the municipality has such a bad reputation. I used to think White Rock was part of Surrey way back when, LOLOLOL.

I grew up in Fleetwood but actually moved closer to Guildford in a really nice family neighbourhood. Why would I care what people think??? Most of them don't have a clue what Surrey is actually like and how much it has really changed the past 10yrs. Love her or hate her but Diane Watts is doing a lot for the city which has been needed for years.

Every place has there good and bad places but all I care about is the Surrey girls are still doing what Surrey girls do ;)

I'd go there. Wal Mart in Vancouver is always out of stock on sale items. This place has miles and miles of shelves............ I exaggerate.

Right On!

I grew up in the DTES. When people make fun of the area without knowing what it's really all about, I get a little upset. The place has changed a lot (Strathcona and Gastown), but it is still the Main and Hastings area that people think about.

I like Diane Watts. She's actually doing something........

Surrey Girl jokes, FTW!

I think walmart's are open 24hrs for a couple weeks before christmas. Hit it up at 3am to get your shit done haha.

More stores should take this approach around the holidays. Nothing's worse than being stuck in a parking lot driving around just to find a parking space or having to wait for multiple women in their 30's trying to park their suv's that are way too big for them.

MG1
11-04-2011, 06:04 PM
yes, open 24 hours

Superstore does that too.
