This is not a "should we be there" question.
Allied troops are dying because a country that has pledged to help in fighting insurgent groups has a government arm that is not only turning a blind eye to the activities of these groups in its own territory, but in cases training and arming them. While they are doing this they are still telling us they are on "our side" so they continue to receive aid money from allied governments.
The Huge amount of aid being sent to Pakistan is actually going into arming Taliban fighters to fight the same people who sent them money in the first place.
The "Should we be there" question is a whole other discussion. This is about supposed allies that are actually backstabbing the hand that literally feeds them, not only causing deaths of allied soldiers (Canadians included), but also dragging out for years a war which would have probably been over ages ago if Pakistan had not been supplying arms and aid to the Taliban fighters. Aid that the US (I’m pretty sure Canada sends Pakistan aid money as well) is paying for.
