Any programmers in the house?
Objective-C, C++, C#, Python, C ..
We could discuss which language is better and have language wars and share information, help each other out and discuss what we know.
I'm knowledgable in Objective C.. Apples primary language.
Anyone else here?

I used to do C when I was really young (13~15) but concentrated on webdesign languages like Action Script, PHP, SQL to make money during the dot com boom. Made some good money.
I like Objective C, for its relative simplicity, but dislike the idea of not able to *translate* for other platform without some major (again, relative) overhaul. i.e: Some elements in Obj-C have no direct equivalent in C++
You must be making a killing with all the fuzz on apps dev.
Now I am learning HTML5, sorta a further development on what I used to do. HTML5 is light year ahead of HTML4.01.

I hate Steve Jobs for only that reason. He killed any possibility of Obj-C being translated to other platforms...
And yes, HTML5 , from what I hear, is amazing.

^ Yup. Been programming in C since early 80's (dating myself). I also use objective C as I'm working on an iOS App and have worked with C++ as well.
Most of my coding has been in straight C and Assembler as I've done a lot with embedded systems using microcontrollers, and you need to write small, efficient code. GLOW: The tech industry can be like that. I found it to be feast & famine with great money often followed by periods of nothing. That's why I've got a "regular" job and do coding projects on the side. Posted via RS Mobile |

Programmer here as well, mainly C++ and C#. Been working in the software industry for 5+ years. Don't have the passion for it anymore so I don't take the time to further my skills and move up in SE world. Been thinking about doing a career change.

And would you consider your self to have good knowledge of said language.
Thank's.

the best language is the one that gets the job done with least amount of time and simplest to use. I have programmed in alot of languages. Right now my favorites are: javascript and obj-c. And least favs: php and perl.

slightly offtopic...but does anyone here have experience with CMSs such as Drupal?
I'm potentially wanting to start a store using the Drupal7 e-commerce framework.

I'm been in the industry 10+ years and have programmed in Basic, Visual Basic, Perl, Java, C++, C# in particular MFC, WinForm, WPF, WCF and am currently adopting the MVVM design pattern across a SOA application. I'm also proficient in TSQL and SQL Server.
I love software architecture, and wish more developers were interested in software design, they might enjoy programming more if they invested in creating frameworks and understanding design patterns that make their life easier.
