: This is a scam, right?

Found a car for way below market value and was sure it was a scam but figured I'd try emailing anyways. Emailed on Sunday and replied earlier this afternoon with this:

Don't want to reveal any info about the car so I edited it out

The car is still available and the price for the *** is $$$. I'm the owner and the car is paid off. It's automatic,non-smoker, clean title, no accidents, extremely clean car. I worked for *** and had access to the employee store. I bought the car for a very low price and that's why I can sell it now so cheap. I got promoted and moved to Grand Forks,BC. I know it's been advertised in few areas but the car is here with me. If you are interested and you have the funds available to make a purchase email me back.

Thanks,
Greg

Seems fishy but legit at the same time so I don't know. Tried Googling the pictures he posted to see if he just copied them off another site but I couldn't find anything. E-mailed him back asking for the VIN and better pictures so we'll see what he says then I guess.

RS verdict?

Were you going to get it delivered? If not, wouldn't you have gone up to look at it anyways before you bought it? Test him. If he says shipping only then yeah you know whats up.

could be legit..tell him to send you 15 pictures of the car, including one of the VIN. For a transaction like this, you definitely want to see the car in person, otherwise don't purchase!

ps - Get his phone number, talk on the phone. If he's not willing to give you his number then stay away for sure

look at the car, test drive it, and take it to a shop.
This should be standard practice in buying a used car.

The only problem here is if the car is stolen, he might have fake papers?
Just ask him for his driver's license etc.

I'm always scared of making big purchases like this.

Speaking of scams, i was looking to buy an imac on craigslist and finally got a reply...

Hello

The item is available and it is like in the ad.I am a volunteer at Save Children Foundation in UK and I want to continue this transaction through a 3rd part Parcel Force delivery...I am in England and I have talked with the people from Parcel Force already. The item is at them ready for delivery and I paid for the taxes and fees already.I worked with them in the past and everything was fine.I posted in your area also because I want to sell it fast(I need money). If you are interested please let me know for I can tell you the details.

Thank you

Any troll ideas?

They usually refer to things as an "item". And usually end w/ a "god bless". lol

I would love to beat one of those Nigerian scammers unconscious, or an serial scammer for that matter. I can only dream about it.
