Lougheed highway - weekday mornings

I need to get to lougheed and willingdon on friday by 8 from surrey

I know highway #1 is brutal

1) take highway to brunette and take lougheed all the way -- how bad is the traffic?
2) take pattullo along canada way and take willingdown to lougheed -- how bad is traffic?

any insight appreciated.

Given the 2, I would not take pattullo onto canada way, mergin onto pattullo will take you a while and getting back onto canada way would too since the traffic is usually pretty heavy on mcbride

Just to be safe I would leave at 6:30. You can never predict traffic accidents and it's better to be early than late

There's going to be traffic regardless of option 1 or 2 although i would recommend option 1

Good luck, but those routes you suggested are not very good imo.

Would Skytrain work? Might not save you any time, but would save you the aggravation of driving in shit traffic.

You can always try leaving earlier and beating the traffic.

Last but not least, try taking Royal Oak northbound from say Imperial, meet up with Canada Way to avoid the Kensington/Highway 1 clusterfuck. Take a right on Willingdon where you would have avoided the BCIT clusterfuck. Though how you might get to the Metrotown area from Surrey I can't help you. Byrne Road and Marine Way might be a possible choice. This would help you avoid the highways and major arteries.

You can chance it and do Highway 1 all the way.

Pretty much this. Flows ok but there is always that jerk holding people up. Leave early. Grab a coffee to go, don't hold up the rest of traffic.

I've left my house in Surrey for BCIT at 6:30, and made it there by 7 using Canada Way. Traffic isn't terrible at the Patullo at that time, but trucks that take up both lanes can slow it down a bit.

As long as there isn't a traffic clusterfuck, you'll be fine.

At 630 traffic isn't too bad on either route. However, leave any later than that and you'll run the chance of being late, especially if there's an accident on one of the other routes.

Canada Way is probably your best bet. There's a few more lights vs Lougheed (I think), but the flow and amount of traffic tends to be better.
