For context, Jiro Sukiyabashi is one of the most renowned sushi restaurants in Japan next to Sushi Mizutani and Ryugin and is a 3-star Michelin rated restaurant. If any of you watch No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, this was one of the restaurants he visited in Tokyo (the original Ginza branch).

not too sure where you heard that. given, i've read chowhound talk about how jiro doesn't offer absolute stellar service for the price given seeing as your paying about $200ish for lunch or $300ish around dinner. i wouldn't put the blame directly on racism yet but i'd say the language barrier is enough to make restaurants like jiro hesitant to take in foreigners because of dietary restrictions and the fact jiro doesn't exactly have an a la carte printed menu if i remember correctly that makes picking stuff to eat simple.

i gave a quick search on google and the only thing i read about racism was from some guy called horace williamsberg and there doesn't seem to be any other entries or comments supporting the claims. there seems to be quite a few foreigners that also went there and got service that seemed adequate at the minimum.
