all you do is call 1-800-407-2647 and say you have recieved a text saying "You sent me a text saying to call in about a holiday promotion credit" Took about 10mins and I got my next month bill covered for FREE (About $60)!!!! yay

the email they sent me says:

Added on Dec 18, 2011 - Savings: Free Montly Service Credit 100.00%- expires on Jan 17, 2012

1)After the line says it is discontinued, just call the number that they told you to call to reach them. I think it was 1-888-764-3771. Press (5)? for Sales and someone will get to you.

2)Tell them about the text you received about the free month credit and they will refer you to a customer service representative

3)The person I talked to was Sean, he was really nice and all he asked for was my postal code, the text which I "received" the promo from which is 4735. After this, he said that it is confirmed and I just needed to wait a couple minutes for them to put it on my account.

Just finished with mine, was on hold for about 10 minutes. Managed to save $30 off of my base plan for the month plus got my account changed so I'm saving an additional $5/month without losing any services. :fuckyea:

-I have the cheapest voice plan, at $17.50
-I have some sort of Rogers to Rogers discount, which IDK what they're referring to
-I have a $10 discount

Also, she says it only applies to people who have a cancellation order on their account, and that is when they would receieve this txt msg offer. So essentially, it only applies to people who are dumping Rogers. It doesn't apply to customers who have paid their bills on time, every month, for the last 10 years.

edit: Oh, forgot to mention. My rep asked for the number which the TXT came from. Since no one mentioned it here, I just said I couldn't see it. I'm sure that didn't help in getting me a discount.

I didn't received the text but decided to call just to see if I could get the promotion. It didn't work they need me to verify the text from a rogers store and call them again from there. Worth a shot...

Please not if you are normally charged for day time minutes you will still pay for those.
Its just the service charges that are free.

Thanks OP! Called 4 times, finally got on hold. Advised the CSR about the text, she did her verification, etc, etc, and asked me if I was looking to make adjustments on my account and I said no, and she said it's all done and will be adjusted on my next bill.

My plan expires Feb 2013, regular voice/data plan ~$50 after taxes. Though I asked for a confirmation number of the transaction, she didn't give me one..

Fuuuuuuu....................I have 2 lines with Rogers, one of them has monthly credits from customer relations.. The rep told me that my line with the credits is NOT eligible for this promo. So i only got the promo for my other line without any credits.

They credit EVERYTHING (plan + addons) except for the grrf. So I will be only paying $2.35 (grrf) + tax for that one line. I guess its not too bad.

UPDATE:

Just called in again for my dad's acc. This time the rep credited everything including the grrf, so basically the next bill will be $0......Another thing is my dad's account also has credits too, just like my first line. I guess it depends on the rep you speak with........

Girlfriend called in, got a dude who said she wasn't eligible because it's only for people whose contract is about to expire.

I called in for her, got a female rep, she put me on hold to check for eligibility and came back saying I (my gf) was eligible and applied the credit.

Out of curiosity I asked her what determined whether one was eligible and she said she wasn't 100% sure either because this was all done on the back end. She said it could have something to do with people who've called in to cancel recently, or people who've been with Rogers for a long time. Regardless, it states on each account whether you're eligible.

In the end I wasn't able to get any useful information since my gf has been with rogers for 4 months only and is on a PSP so she only pays like $25 a month after taxes. The only thing I can think of that might have made her eligible is the fact that she ported her number in from a different carrier.

Haggled their time and then he said i was definitely eligible for it so i don't need to give him the code :lol:. so if you don't have the text and he asks you for the code, just pretend you have it and see if he/she will just give it to you

I called in and said i received the msg. Gave name, number, postal code, dob. Then she asks what was the number i received it from. Put her on hold for a minute. Called in again did the same thing and put me on hold and checked in her system and said that i am eligible.

Called last night at 845pm and finally got through at around 920pm.

Told them I got a txt message and she said np let me check if you're eligible. Came back after a min and said yup no problem we'll credit your Voiceplan.

Even sent me an email confirmation that it was done too. Didn't get the full bill credited like some people but I don't care it was still worth it.

Just called in, got a lady with a brown accent. She asked me when I got the text message and just some information like phone number, postal code, and account holder's name. Then she says she has to check the eligibility of my account. She comes back and says that she is only applying a $25 dollar credit to my account for next month because it is only for voice plan and not add-ons like data plans. I argued that the text said it would have my whole plan credited on the text message but she said sorry only it's only for monthly voice plans. It may be different with each CSR so it just depends how lucky you are! Well Nonetheless I still saved $25 so I can't complain. Thanks again OP!

called and got transferred to customer service after giving them all my info and the guy told me i needed to do a hardware upgrade to get the promotion and i told him i know a shitload of people who didnt and we went back and forth for literally 10 minutes. at one point he said 'i might need to disconnect this call with you'. and i said 'ahahahah ive been a loyal customer for multiple years. if you wanna keep your job i would strongly suggest against that' . then he hangs up...

I did ask what the condition is for this "holiday promo credit" and the rep told me this is basically loyalty credit so if you have been with Rogers for some time (my 9th year with Rogers) then you are eligible.

I have read on RFD that some people have gotten this added to their account only couple months into their 3 year contract.

But I had to try twice; the first guy I talked to said I might have got the text in error, and that I was eligible but I had to renew my contract in order to get the free month. I said EFF that and hung up.

So I tried again and talked to a woman this time who explained the whole thing to me:

They sent these texts out at random to rogers customers, and there were 2 deals: One that gave you the free month if you re-signed, and another that just gave you a free month. But she checked my eligibility and said I could get it!

Persistence pays off! Just keep calling till you get someone who will give it to you :)

reps will often put notes on your account with the reason as to why you called. ex, if you were to call in a second time about the same thing, the second rep would know.

I don't think it will be a problem.

I called and got the promotion the first time. After I called with my brother's number and I was rejected the first time. I called again (with a different rep) and got the promotion applied.

You can imagine how many calls the reps have answered. As long as you're courteous, polite and don't have a "I deserve this, give it to me" attitude, I think you should be fine!

If you guys read through the redflagdeals.com thread, you'll notice it does take multiple times if you don't get it on the first time. I got lucky, but if you really want the discount just keep trying.

It's shit like this thread that make me glad I just wiped my hands of Rogers. Paying $80/mo for 28 more months vs paying $500 ECF... I paid the $500 ECF. Rather be done with them and their deteriorating service (both network and customer) than suffer through the stupidity of dealing with them.

Unless you have some great retentions plan through them, you're getting hosed.

Yup they rope people in with this "one month free" or random discounts just when they feel that you might be thinking of switching. Meanwhile you are getting screwed by continuing to sign up for their three year contracts just because they give you an additional 50 minutes a month of talk time or a little more data.

Mobilicity doesn't have to give me random discounts because they charge my credit card $40 a month and that's it, every month its the same. I'm not on the phone all the time haggling to get a retentions plan or wondering why I have random charges on my account.
