Four arrested after counterfeit money bust - News1130 (http://www.news1130.com/news/local/article/311975--four-arrested-after-counterfeit-money-bust)
Four guys in Richmond made $1.15 million in $100 counterfeit bills, the old paper bills. RCMP arrested the bums before they could cut the bills from the paper they were printed on.
If these bums are foreigners, deport them back to their country of origin.
The RCMP inspector mentioned in the article that organized crime is likely linked to this counterfeit operation.

it says in the link that the bills are "poor quality" so, im guessing you would have to be oblivious to not notice the quality of the print and foil, or you are in a rush to get things done

Should never rush with CL transactions.
Plan ahead, and give yourself enough time.

Probably not.
Electronics are big and bulky and not expensive enough. Plus for resell your not gonna get a good price reselling.
Think of jewelry , watches, diamonds, etc..

I had a RCMP officer show us about counterfeiting, she showed us the best bills they found and you could still easily tell its a fake..

thats just so the general public wont start making counterfeits.
imagine if they showed you a really good quality replica, then there would be a higher chance of people thinking they can get away with c-notes.

For every one of you, there are like 10 or more people out there that wouldn't be able to tell....LOL. Cashiers don't care enough to check the bills. Well, some anyways.

I really wonder where they could move these since most stores refuse large bills these days.

I was selling my macbook on craigslist a couple weeks back and had an offer immediately. The buyer said his macbook broke, needing one right away and said he had money ready. I thought it was too good to be true because he was paying over my asking price if I could "meet up asap." (I was asking $1950 and he said he'd pay $2000)
He said he didn't have a cell at the moment because he dropped his iPhone but would call me from a payphone. (LOL) I told him sure and that I did not want any $100 bills. He got all defensive and asked why not, saying that was all he had on him but agreed (over the phone) to give me $20's.
We met up and I kept the macbook in my car. Shady looking kid (looked like a 18/19) and he asked about the computer. I told him it's in the car but I asked to see the cash first. The guy pulls out all the 100's, just a glimpse before I can properly inspect them. I told him I didn't want 100's and he kept arguing about why I'm so picky. I told him I'm leaving so he shows me one of the bills to prove they're not fake. I just look at the bill, got in the car and drove away.
The metallic strip wasn't cut straight

I don't see why you met up with him...
Anyone that gives some BS excuse to why they don't have a phone and would call you form a payphone is shady as hell. You're lucky he didn't rob you or had a knife on him.
Yeah I should of been smarter.
I was just anxious to sell the laptop.
I chose a public place to meet but I still could of gotten robbed.

He's still trying to sell his laptop so I don't think it would be a good idea to not show up, just in case the guy is legit. There are still some super rare people out there that don't have cell phones.
Good job on OP though for choosing public place and asking for 20's. At least he's aware.

why do people even counterfit $100... anyone in their right mind would check it twice to make sure its real.. if anything.. counterfit $10 or $20 bills..

You're right. According to the Bank of Canada, lower denominated currencies are counterfeited more than larger ones like the $100. Nobody care because it seems petty. But when there is money to be made, don't underestimate.

I understand haha. Just if you somehow did find out your buyer was carrying fakes and what not.

That would be such a dick move lol
I would never do that to someone especially if they have my cell number.

the only time someone didn't have a cell phone was for buying a bus pass..okay that was probably legit
anyone else = red flag
it's the year 2012...everyone and their dog can get their hands on a cell phone.
