I would have liked the article a lot more if it focused on the person himself, rather than the actions of his party because there is not much on KJI (which I understand is hard to find).

"Before I grow so infirm that my experiences become useless, I would love to meet Kim Jong Il one last time and give him one last lesson. I, who became a university professor thanks to his father; I, who traveled to Russia, Seoul, and now Washington. I no longer loathe him. I pity him. Even though he killed my family, I have already forgiven him."

This is an excellent ending to his article. It shows that despite the censorship and propaganda that is North Korea, people who eventually become exposed to the outside world can still change.

I cannot begin to imagine how I would feel if I was the professor; watching KJI change from a shy student, to an absolute dictator. And to have the friends and colleagues admit to them that they were the ones responsible for the deaths of so many citizens. The burden of knowing such things would absolutely tear me apart.

Good read, always interesting to see how the people in North Korea really lives, especially since there's very little primary source of information
