I still find it hard to believe that even in stock form, people would choose to buy a Cayenne over a stock Jeep SRT8...wtf?

is it really that hard to believe? i'd take a cayenne v6 over an srt8 anyday.

I wouldn't. The Cayenne looks butt fuck ugly on the outside and can barely handle it's own off the road. Mind you, neither can the SRT-8... lol.
Either way, SUV's are stupid. Unless you actually use 'em to 4x4 and then they're marginally acceptable. :D

the cayenne might be ugly but i'd much rather drive around in something comfy and luxurious than a 500hp box on wheels :lol
for that price, i go buy a gtr and give it a few mods, it will leave that thing in the dust. Who would wanna buy a suv with that much power? suvs are meant for comfort and safety, not drag lol.

Lol the cayenne used to be decent off road but that interior was far from comfy and luxurious, some of the worst rear seats I have experienced in a modern suv.
The SRT 8 pedals look like they have some pattern for heel toe shifting? :suspicious:

Its either
"What do you drive?" "A Porsche :fuckyea:"
or
"What do you drive?" "A Jeep :okay: "
But thats just me, i know a ton of people would rather go for the Jeep.

depending on the pic i guess...

http://img2.netcarshow.com/Porsche-Cayenne_2011_800x600_wallpaper_55.jpg (isnt a fair pic though since thats the 2-tone option which is a few $K)
they look about the same to me (id give the edge to porsche) i like that the cayenne has those handlebars in the centre but.. yeah
exterior wise i feel the Jeep has it by a landslide there's always a give and take
and with the porsche if you want any seemingly basic features (in other brands) your price ends up skyrocketing from on par with the jeep into 911 S+ territory

the centerconsole in the cayenne looks far more upscale, but you guys are missing the point...
people who are in the market for srt8 jeeps are not going to look at v6 cayennes.. they want a muscular suv that competes with cayenne turbo, x5(6)/m etc. etc. with an affordable price tag.
now before i get flamed, im no way in saying its better built than the german muscle suvs, but price wise, it could be bang for the buck for potential performance oriented suv buyers..
descent power, affordable, may of course lack in some quality compartments from its euro competitors, but again affordable price attracts potential budget buyers in the market and mainly..the discretion of brand perception
think of hyundai for example

sit in the drivers seat of a 600hp SRT8 Jeep first and then you'll understand why. This is fucking awesome.

let's assume it's covered by the warranty the first few yrs:concentrate:
how much would a 7-8 year old (let's say 2004-2006 Cayenne) for regular maintenance go for?

Most modern ones, no. There are a few on the market right now that are very capable, though. However, if I were to get one to actually 4x4, it'd be an old Pathfinder or 80's Toyota pickup.

jeep cherokee XJ called, on the other line were the 93-04 jeep grand cherokees ZJ and WJs. they would like to have a word with you about stock SUVs and 4x4ing
my 96 grand cherokee did fucking Whipsaw with 1.5" spring spacers and a disconnected swaybar. both ways. without any trouble. the toyota pickup that came along had to be winched 3 times.

I know it doesn't, but a 4Runner or the like aren't the same as a modern SUV. Insurance may class them the same, but they are totally different machines.
And H2 frames are total shit, I would never trust one to do any kind of high-stress offroading.

that h2 got lucky. obstacles in moab like the escalator are about 90% about the line you take, and 10% the thing you're driving. theres so much traction in moab as long as you get your line right you're going to be ok. it also had the benefit of being wide enough to skirt the puddle in the middle of the first hole. generally if you keep your tires dry you make that climb.
and for every time someone posts that vid of the h2, theres ones like this to be posted.

Depends on the AWD system you got. Theres many different types for jeep
I have a varilock in the front and rear axle, some WJ/ZJ's came with just a rear locker.
The new GC has Front and rear locking diffs aswell.
