Can any pro installer answer my questions please?

just wondering if someone can help me out.

i have an alpine mrpm500 amp and want to have a gain control on it but it doesn't come with one. i dont think it has the input (like phone jack) for it so i assume i have to buy rca type and that will work on that amp? will there be room on the amp for that to hook up to even if i need to use an inline converter since i am leaving my factory deck installed? also i have a factory sub and amp in my car but want to add aftermarket amp and sub so should i be relaying into the factory amp/sub and using those hook ups or leave that as is and do totally separate hookup?

the amp is 2ohm and 4ohm. i have two subs (solobaric l3 and l5. one is 2ohm (with kicker box thats ported) and the l5 (higher version) but is 4ohm and comes with a qlogic box (sealed). what do you recomend would be better? i only want to use one box/sub. i would like deeper/louder bass. thanks in advance.

What car is this going into?

I don't know this particular amp, and am quite surprised that you say it has no gain control.

If your car has a factory amp, it should be possible to tap the speaker lines and hard wire rca male ends to them and connect them to your Alpine amp.

Generally, you can use less power to get the same amount of bass out of a sealed box, so I would go with the I5.

The Solobaric L3 will be much better for your set-up.

Also the MRPM 500 does have a gain control on it but it sounds like you're going to need a bass control from the front, which we have the RCA type in stock for $35.00. You'll also need an LOC with a trigger on it to integrate this new system into your ride. If you'd like to bring it in, we can go over everything that you'll need and suggestions as to how to install it.

is that the pac brand you have? do you think the system would sound as good or better as the setup they had at best buy (same amp/sub) but with an aftermarket deck? what do you mean by trigger? i have the pac loc. how much would you charge me for this install?

Hi Winks,

Pac is a nice product. We use it all the time for many applications.

Systems usually sound better in a vehicle rather than a noisy showroom. You can hear more detail.

A trigger is the system that tells the amp to turn on & off.

We charge $80.00 an hour. What year is your TL?
