: Official 2012 Working Out/Fitness/Health GOALS

Everyone has been posting up their goals in the general fitness thread but those pages will undoubtedly get lost this time next year. So here's a thread dedicated to all our goals in regards to the gym, our health, and fitness.

Let this thread die early next year and I'll dig it back up again in 365 days to see our progress (hopefully)! Or you can keep updating your status and inform RS if you reached it or not.

Let me begin:

6ft tall - 178lbs

Weight goals (Current > Goal):
Deadlift 1RM (425lbs > 505lbs)
Squat 1RM (365 > 405 lbs)

Body Composition:
8% body fat by the end of the summer

Current for the big 3 right now are 2 Plate Bench, 3 Plate Squat, 4 Plate DL (plus a little bit more on each but I'm only counting the big plates) For next year I want to up 1 plate to each of those AT THE END OF THE YEAR. I'm not going to count the max I do mid year as I'm looking for long term gains ;)

Looks like my goals are endurance-oriented.

I am at 212lbs right now, and shooting for 190-195lbs by the time i hit the first (of 3) triathlons this year.

to be able to fit back into my old jeans. They are all size 31-33 ... they haven't fit since summer 2010 lol. It will be done!

Strength wise .. I don't think I'll ever be happy lol. Aiming for some big increases for sure, minimum 45lbs/side on my big 3 lifts. I saw that increase in 2011, hoping for the same in 2012 :)

Im a newbie to the gym, main goal is to be more physically fit, I wanna get some good cardio, and loose some weight, and also gain a lot of muscle. I do not care for abs or anything, I just want to be able to run and gain some muscle.

KEEP THAT SHIT UP. If you don't see results even within a month or two, it'll come by soon enough. Put enough hours and dedication in and you'll see results.

My goal is basiclly to start doing my current 1RMs for regular sets while doing it all natural and to hit 170-175lbs LEAN. Except for my bench, I'm hoping for 225lbs for reps of 3x8.

edit ehh.. im too close to that lets make it 245lbs for reps of 3x8

I know that feeling way too well :( Wear the same tattered AE jeans everywhere, none of my nice ones fit anymore. Told myself I'd wear ugly clothes till my old nice ones fit again lol .. motivation i guess.

Started @ 156lbs, bulked up to 180lbs in 5 months

Current Goal:

Continue Bulk to end of January ( hopefully reach 190lbs )

Cut 20-25lbs by the end of April /w 10-12% bf

I am 6' 215-218 right now

I am going to get to 205 by Feburary.

From Feb to the end of the year I am going to be 240 lbs and nothing over 15% BF
I am going to be deadlifting 700lbs
I am going to bench 4 plates
I am going to squat 500+

I am going to be a machine.

I am 5'11" and 188 lbs. Somewhat lean.
Do not care about my weight.

This year I'll try to lift heavier. I currently don't bench, maybe I'll pick that up as a hobby. :P

Weight goals (Current > Goal):
Deadlift 1RM (405lbs > Anything above 405)
Squat 1RM (315lbs > Anything above 315)

Also want to improve my shitty form on olympic lifts.
Going to get together my home gym and start training grip and sand bag lifts as well. I wish I had room for a tractor tire.

Drop to 220 and stay there around 7-8% body fat
but be able to do all the same lifts i could the starting of this year
4 plate bench for 4-5reps
close to 7 plate dead
squat was close to 5 plates
I Will get back up to most of these numbers at that weight and size.

practice endurance every week and you'll get farther than 5km, just keep going at it

and for the people who are starting to go to the gym don't quit

heard about so many people that just disappear in the early weeks after they sign up, yeah it could be frustrating that you won't see gains but when you achieve the mentality to want to go the gym everyday then you'll start seeing results :)

Right now, been going to the gym enough to keep kinda fit on top of my 3 hockey games a week. Haven't really gained anything and not as fit as I should be. I'm 6'2", right now I'm at 187lbs and 17.9%bf. It's been far too long and I haven't reached my final goal I set a couple years ago. I used to be 124lbs and I pushed to get myself to a healthy weight; in just over 5 months I gained 48lbs. Luckily I've been able to keep that weight by maintaining somewhat but never reached what I set out to be. I want to be at 210lbs and 8-9%bf by the beginning of June, it'll take alot of dedication and hard work to get there but I'm going to push myself as hard as possible. This has to happen. :concentrate:

Not being an ass here, but I hope you realize that you're trying to gain 33lbs while losing 10 percent body fat.

Agreed. Last year i was 240pounds at 5"6, i was a fat ass and not afraid to admit it now. Here's my story. I tried to go on the hells gate ride at PNE but the strap couldn't lock me on tightly and they told me i couldn't go on cause of "machine problems". Put my life into prospective. I fuckin went so hard at the gym this yr and im now at 170Pounds last time i checked. Tried on some clothes i had from grade 9 and even those dont fit. Fuckin pumped for this comin year its gonna be a good year.

My goal is not even for this yr but by summer time EDC in Vegas, i wanna be around 160-170 but with LEAN MUSCLE. I dont know what percent body fat i am right now but honestly i dont give a crap at this point, ive come so far that i KNOW i WILL hit it by summer time. :accepted:

I know its not going to be easy. I know what kind of work its going to take to get the goal I'm aiming for. When I was 124lbs, I was a serious hardgainer, my metobolic rate was rediculous; I ate 8000 to 10000 calories a day on workout days and over 6000 on off days and it payed off. Now my metabolism has slowed down a fair bit since then. I usually sit around 10-12% body fat and this extra 5% has creeped up on me in the past 10 months maybe, so getting that down to where I want it to be shouldnt be too hard. Its just being able to keep it down and gain that 30 pounds. I will be monitoring and logging my progress and if I reach 200 I'll be pumped, but my goal is ultimately 210 and that is what I'm pushing for.

i've been going soft on my body building workouts lately because of alll the hockey ive been playing
but im going to get back on the ball:

bench 205 for 5 reps
back squat 295 comfortably
deadlift 315 comfortably
military press 1 plate FULL ROM
single leg squat 1 plate FULL ROM

ice hockey wise i want to be able to:
stop on a dime on left side
"toe pick" quick starts
scissor skate backwards and fowards

My goals for this coming year is to lose weight til im around 220 or so. I've come such a long way in the last 2 years from being almost 300 off just FAT to going down to 240 and then gaining weight but muscle at the same time( instead of JUST fat ) i know it ain't gonna be easy, but i just gotta change my work/eating habits just like i gotta change it for other things. Can't wait for a fresh new year and to hit my goals :concentrate:

for chest, gonna focus on mainly upper chest for vnecks jk, because its lagging in general, incline bench, incline db, smith machine bench to neck, smith incline sometimes to switch it up

incline bench working set is 135 right now, aiming for 185 working set

not gonna flat bench much, maybe 1x month, mainly flat pin presses, floor presses, dbz with a full rom, ohp on shoulder days to help with it

current flat bench: 140 work set
goal: 205 work set

back focusing on thickness, width not as much, also lower back,
chalk for dls

current deadlift 1x5: 255 [mixed grip]
goal: 315 x5 double overhand, 335 x5 mixed

legs not concerned much on quad size mainly numbers in a2g squats, gonna throw in calves 3x a week at the end of a workout, as theyve grown but have been pretty neglected

current a2g squat: 170 x7
goal: 245 x5

biceps gonna do 1 exercise for 10sets of 10-12 after back
triceps gonna do 1 heavy movement like skullcrush jm press cg bench with some cable exercises
goal is 15.5"

goal weight by summer is 155 with 8% or so bf
for the year is 165 with around 10% bf

Currently 6'3" 200lbs.

Goals:
- Get back to 205lbs and maintain my current lifting power while drastically improving my cardio and endurance.
- Run a 4:30 mile or less
- Continue to improve my calisthenic strength and flexibility. I can currently do 50+ pushups nonstop in under 1 minute. Same for situps. I max out at around 13 dead hang pull ups, that needs to jump to at least 20.
- Learn to do muscle ups and be able to do sets of 10

Other areas of life:
- Continue my martial arts training
- Ace my OFA3, CPR/C, and AED courses starting at the end of Jan
- Continue to improve my shooting skills and technical knowledge of firearms

Not gonna lie, that is one sick tatty..colouring in places youve been to.

I will be 140lbs, deadlift 245, and squat 2 plates by spring break. end of the year i aim for 3 plates for both. By summer i want 275 for both. 3-2-1 end year.
I will kill it at the gym, no excuses. I dont want to regret anything.
I will do my best, and keep pushing myself. Do my best, forget the rest :concentrate:

Already qualified for Powerlifting in the 75kg class - Raw.
I'll probably qualify @ 69kg though for Weightlifting.
Snatched 95 from the box, would love to end the year with a 105 snatch.

all of my lifts are currently at or better than my PRs for weight and/or reps. a few lifts the weights are slightly down from my previous max, but rep range is way higher. been lifting like a boss 5 days a week for about 10 solid weeks with no bad days. feelin great. gonna deload next week and start another creatine cycle and beta alanine cycle is in full effect. gonna fucking KILL the next 3 months! ive never been so absolutely pumped on lifting like the zone im in.

Summer goal, so let's say by July 1st.

Clean 95lbs -> 135lbs
Press 65lbs -> 115lbs
Bench 100lbs -> 155lbs
Squat 225lbs -> 275lbs
Deadlift 225lbs -> 315lbs

Also cut down enough BF to get rid of le muffin top

Decided to re-do mine and set goals by summer (so beginning of June)

bench 185lbs > 225lbs
squat 165lbs > 225lbs
DL 180lbs > 315lbs

bf down to 15% or so and weight down to roughly <240lbs

theyre attainable. youll find your gains go up easily for the first couple months, you just havent found your strengths yet

what kinda food did you eat to bulk up 20 pounds?

i really wanna bulk up but everytime i hit near 160, my face expands and i get a wicked double chin, being skinny fat sucks

Here we are. 2012 is over.

How have my lifts changed?

Deadlift/bench are at an all time high, 405 and 325 respectively.

Hope to push these numbers to 495, and 405 by the end of 2013.

Bench still sucks. At 225 currently, I hope to hit 315 by the end of the year.

Other than that, stop being a fat cunt.

Okay, so weight goal was a bust, I am at 240 atm, i will check with my usual scale tomorrow.

But, i accomplished my bench goal and then some. I can do 245 3 x 8 now. I will set some goals for 2013 in the next thread.

DL and squats are approaching 3 plates easy. Hoping to squat 315 by feb 2013.

hopefully my wrist gets stronger, and I can go back to barbell bench, if not dumbell it is.

2013 goals, will copy/paste if new thread made

for summer:

-cut to 9%
-continue focusing on shoulders/chest/biceps more than back/traps/triceps
-bring out quad teardrop
-have a proportionate physique with at least 15.5" arms lean, visible abs, serratus, and intercostals

for the year

-arms 16" pumped, 15.25/15.5" cold > 17.5" pumped, 17 cold
-thicker forearms
-get delts to cap arms
-better quad teardrop/sweep
-wide thick, flat chest
-focus more on lagging shoulders/chest/arms than back/traps

New years resolution :

2 plate bench
3 plate squat
4 plate deadlift

by the end of 2012

hopefully i can make it hahah
i'll look back in a years time

set the bar too high for the first year, but i'll get them all in 2013
bench 100x5> 140x5 :okay:
squats 175x5> 260x5
deadlift 205x5 > 315x2
134lbs>140lbs

Prior to the short distance triathlon I did in September, i adapted to a eat smaller portions-eat more often meal plan.


Now that i am losing a little bit more weight with that plan, i am hoping to complete a longer distance triathlon this year.

Stats:
-5'9 175

-Trying to get to 180-190 this year and cut down next year.
-Start doing a lot more cardio this time around, in the gym and playing basketball.
-Hopefully be back at my old stats again Bench (2 plates) squad (2 plate 25s) deadlift (2 plate 25s+).
-overall eat a lot healthier and stop blazing.

Summer of 2013:

-Weigh 150lbs, squat 315 for reps, deadlift 335 , bench 185 for reps.
Throw in some calves every leg day, focusing on broader shoulders, wider lats and traps.
Strength days for shoulder and back will always follow with high reps of pulldowns, rows, shoulder presses or raises.

For the year:

365 deadlift, 335 squat, 2 plate bench, OHP one plate. Run smolov at least once throughout the year

Through the year:

Throw in some calves every leg day, focusing on broader shoulders, wider lats and traps. I will bring out a wider chest; lots of work on "wide" look, or "built from the back".
Eat more vegetables and vitamin D, keeping warm, and not getting sick every month.
